If you are a guy and you meet a girl you like who is older than you........what do you do? What is the appropriate age difference btwn an older girl and a younger guy......and then when you go out, should the girl pay cuz she is older or what???? Do the rules change when the girl is older than the guy? I wonder how Demi and Ashton do it.....but then again their age difference is wayyyy out of league. 12/1/2005 4:04:09 PM |

I thinks its better than the older guy with the younger girl. If there is a huge age difference, than it is just wrong and kinda pathetic (depending on the ages). 12/1/2005 4:14:10 PM |

i'm talking to a much younger guy....
i like him a lot and he seems to like me....
the age thing hasn't been an issue yet....but we'll see...
i'm all about doing things for him that girls his age can't (both financially and otherwise ) but he doesn't know that yet so I'm just gonna wait into it and see what happens.....

no, the rules don't change. age doesn't determine who pays the check. it is perfectly fine to go dutch or to take turns paying tho (like any relationship).
friend of mine is dating a guy 4 years younger and has dated up to 6 yrs younger. but she is 33 (looks 27) and he is 29 so that is a little different than a 16 yr old and a 12 or a 10 yr old ya know.
it all depends on each individuals maturity level and if you share common interests. i see no issue with a 40yr old and a 30 yr old. but obviously a 20 yr old and a 10yr old aren't acceptable. for a 22 yr old guy, i see nothing wrong with a 26 to even 28 yr old depending of course on maturity levels. 12/1/2005 5:39:00 PM |

ok....wow....you basically said it all....yeah i am talking about mature stuff not under-age crazy stuff....but here's the thing, say its your first date....so who pays the check? 12/1/2005 5:41:02 PM |

Man pays... Period... End of story!
Unless it's his birthday. Or if he's broke
But really...age shouldn't be an issue unless it is with your family or her's.

In my experience, in relationships with a large age difference, disagreements are usually about money. While your business professional girlfriend is trying to figure out what color her new car should be, you're digging through your parents couch for enough change to put a gallon of gas in your car. I'm exagerating, but I don't care. 12/1/2005 7:36:58 PM |

Well I'm 21, gf is 24
she's gonna get her masters before i get my bachelors (by one semester)
you find other things to worry about. she didn't believe I was as young as I was when we met (I'd just turned 20) and I didn't believe she was as old as she was (about to turn 23). When you find someone you click with, age just becomes referential. 12/2/2005 2:57:04 AM |

I much prefer older women (even though I'm dating a 17 year old, go figure). I'm 26, oldest I've been with is 42. Watch out for the mid-30's girls, if you fall in love you nonetheless have to deal with the issue that one day you'll be 40 and her 50 which dosen't work out so well and makes for a very sad breakup. As far as sex goes, I'd recomend it! I haven't gotten a chance to try out women in their 50's yet so I can't comment that far out... 12/2/2005 8:55:44 AM |

my brother is 26, his wife is 27...not much age difference there really but still older v younger
but you'd be surprised how common an older woman/younger man relationship is...may december relationships are what they're called
even vice versus of older male/younger female relationships...if you look up "may december relationships" on google you'll get a ton of hits of articles and blogs of just such a thing...and i wanna say CNN had an article recently on may december relationships and looked at hollywood for such an example--they're tons. susan sarandon and tim robbins pop into my head besides ashton and demi
and this is right on IMO

I've dated a 2 girls 4 years older than me, and then a few my age, and then a few 4 years younger than me...
first girl was 26 when I turned 21... we got along really really well I was poor and she knew it so she would pay most of the time... I made a poor choice and its one of my life regretts with her...
next I was 22 and she was 27... She had so much baggage from her previous LONG term relationship she was super insecure... I really liked her but she was hypercritical on "what I meant" by every little thing I said or did, totally insecure. broke up with her. We alternated who paid b/c we made the same ammount of money, we liked that better than going dutch...
Its nice dating somebody your age b/c your pretty much at the same place in life and looking for the same things... but you NEVER know what life is going to throw at you...
the girls that are 4+ years younger than me are still in the freshmen range, They are awesome (full of energy) but they are still discovering life and your along for the ride
it comes down to a maturity/experience thing... I feel that whoever is in the best financial position should pay... Thats swung both ways in my case and it hasn't bothered me either way... 12/2/2005 11:55:18 AM |
