Looks like I'm getting my Hobart Handler 140 MIG for Crimmus. I've been putting off getting a welder for more than 12 years. Well fuck if I ain't gonna get one now.
BTW, it's about time we had more meaningful threads in the Garage. This shit has been getting boring.

I do like the auto dark helmets, though I really am used to flipping my lid. Been doing it that way for years!
And I definitely plan on gassing with Unamix or the generic 75/25 ArCO2 blend.
Might even get a bottle of 100% Argon so I can weld aluminum... 12/2/2005 12:41:57 PM |

I'm asking for a dremel.
not having my own garage and space to put tools really hinders me in my tool acquisition efforts. 12/2/2005 5:39:25 PM |

I dont really need anymore tools ,just a bigger place to put them. Im hoping to enclose the two other bays of my garage so it will be 4 bays total. Probally still wont have enough room. I have too much junk. 12/2/2005 7:47:31 PM |

ZX I have a handler135, it welds like shit with flux core wire, the initial cost of buying the tank is high but a tank lasts forever. it should come with the hose and regulator. Conventional wire makes a nice looking bead when I do my part. 12/3/2005 1:43:58 PM |

damn dan wish i woulda known you were in the market. i unloaded my old hobart 175 with gas and accessories for only 500 a few months back. 12/4/2005 10:36:16 AM |

Oh well! T'ain't that big of a deal...I don't have 230 in the garage yet, and the 175 has to have it.
That's the primary reason I'm getting the 140, well, that and portability. It will have to go with me to Smithfield every now and then.

Yeah, most welders don't do really well with the flux core; it actually takes a good bit of tweaking and you have to weld slowly. I've turned out some pretty nice beads with flux core, but I had to play around with it a bit. Did a buddy's coilover spring seat collars with one, and they turned out pretty good.12/4/2005 11:40:18 AM |
