Dear Jennifer Connelly,

Do you have a thing for docks? I'm watching house of sand and fog, and there's a pretty extended scene of you at the end of one. You were also at the end of one in Dark City and (if my memory serves) Requiem for a dream. What gives?

Yours Always,
Philihp

Also - In Dark City & Requiem - these scenes of her on a dock, show her from a far with her back turned, mysteriously viewed by a man - whom eventually smiles upon realizing the identity of the woman ..... at first they were not sure if they really knew her & were cautious with ever getting too close to her........ but in Requiem, she suddenly falls off & the man can not catch her in time......

OH also - i'm pretty sure both dark city & requiem were filmed at Coney Island, NY

OH MY GOD - maybe it was the exact same dock!

The real stand out difference is that, in Requiem, this scene was not real, but a prophetic
dream / nightmare that Jared Leto's character has...

I have just now come to the obvious conclusion that this scene happens many times in many films & that the ONLY factor causing anyone to even have a second thought about such scene during the film is Jennifer Connolly.

It's just one of those neat little de ja vus that people rarely get to experience & be able to figure out the sources for the feeling .....

I bet the scene occured in Herbert Selby's book, that he helped Darren ARonowsky adapt into a screenplay for the movie.... Aronowsky loves Coney Island & is either from there or somewhere near it.... He used this setting for his movie Pi a good time before making Requiem. Coney Island has piers & such a scene can visually symbolize the common nightmare that people have concerning someone "falling"......

House of Sand and Fog... Yes, amazingly, right at the end of the film, just when we were thinking they wouldn't show her on a pier (better word than dock for them), they have almost the exact same shot of her once again!

All three, btw, are great movies, especially Requiem and Dark City.

I found this interview with Jennifer
http://www.chud.com/index.php?type=interviews&id=3287

Q: Is Dark Water going to have a scene with you standing on a pier? Is this going to be your fourth film with that?

Connelly: [laughs] No it won’t! It’s funny, I said to Vadim [Perelman, director of House of Sand and Fog] “Wait, how many times have I done this now?” No, it was three times. Two in a red dress. I had one pier in a red dress in Dark City and then a pier in a red dress in Requiem for a Dream. I said to Darren, “You know, I have to tell you that I did a scene in a red dress on a pier in another film, can I change the dress? Should we mix it up a bit?” So we did talk about it. And then of course House of Sand and Fog. It’s quite unusual.

it's simply coincedence for Connelly & for people who've seen these 3 movies, but logically so, since all settings made sense that they were in cities where it's common to see docks / piers & easily stood out to the director's artistic eye & hope for saving $ on filming location ideas.........

if it were a scene on a dock in some movie that seemed gratuitous & random..... i'd accuse them of knowingly using this same actress in this same scene on purpose just to spark gossip....

i read some opinions saying the house of sand director didn't have a good idea for the movie's ending & decided show her on a pier, & "risk" "type-casting" Jennifer for a 3rd time, hahahah. but those were from bad reviews of the film & biased imo.......
