"Five-star junior college quarterback Brent Schaeffer visited NC State last weekend, and College of the Sequoias assistant Andy Siegal discusses Schaeffer's recruitment with Pack Pride."

I was just wondering if anyone who is a member of packpride.com has read the article and what is says about Schaeffer and his interest. The coach said it would be a great fit.

I'll paraphrase it...

Apparently he had a great visit and REALLY likes Trestman. He didn't know a lot about Trestman before he came in for the visit, and all he could talk about when he got back was..."Did you know Trestman was the O-Coordinator at Miami?? Did you know Trestman....blah blah....etc". He's also getting along great with Cignetti and knows that he has a great opportunity to play earlier.

He was originally suppose to visit Ole Miss this weekend but Mazzone got fired, so Cignetti came in and swooped him up for a visit. He's still going to officially visit Ole Miss and Wisconsin, but has yet to set up an official visit with Florida (I've heard there's something going on there).

That's about it.

^what he said...
basically the article says that he really likes NCSU and Trestman, etc...and enjoyed his visit

but his JuCo coach says that it is still open between us, florida, wisconsin, ole miss...
he likes all 4..

in my opinion, the decision will come down to the wire sometime next spring

fuck schaeffer

he aint coming here anyway, he is going to FLORIDA. even if he wanted to i would say fuck you if i was Amato. I know he is good , i would love to have a halfway decent QB, but he did kinda of fuck us twice already, by de-committing. and he is just going to do it again.

He only fucked us once by de-committing (assuming he really was a silent verbal). After that it was Fulmer not letting him come to us (which it was any coach would do because we were on their future schedule).

The animosity towards Schaeffer is funny. And you're an idiot if you wouldn't take him.

i'm not trying to be that typical NC State fan, but I sincerely believe that if we had had PR last year we would have had a legitimate shot at the national championship. Kickass defense and a quarterback that could outplay mazzowne's suckiness. It would have been great

Nothing is 100% about Schaeffer going to Florida, they have one Elite 11 QB, Jevan Sneed, committed now and might add another in a week, Tim Tebow or Mitch Mustain. If Meyer gets both QB's there will be no offer for Schaeffer. His top teams are Florida, Ole Miss, State and Wisconsin. The only thing that tied him to Ole Miss was the recently unemployed Mazzone, so they are starting from scratch. If one of those two QBs committ to the Gators I see it as a two horse race between us and Wisconsin.

or Mustain for that matter. I apologize for having late info about Sneed, I just remembered reading an article on Scout saying he was "100% Gators"

NCSU's QB situation is a lot better than Florida's.

Leak is back next year, and Meyer brought a Freshman QB with him from Utah.

If PT is his major issue, I say he ends up with the Pack. Personally, I think he will anyways if we can keep him away from the "bigtime" feel of Florida.

NCSU is his best opportunity

even if he wants to...i don't really see UF offering due to other signings...but I think BS will see that if it's immediate PT he wants/needs, UF won't be the place to get it.

A top HS QB, Tim Tebow, is announcing on Dec. 14th between Fla and Alabama. If Tebow picks Florida, then consider Schaeffer as a Wolfpacker. If Tebow picks Bama, then UF will probably turn up the heat for Schaeffer.

Mitch Mustain is the number 1 QB in the country by Scouts and the number 2 by rivals he recently decided to reopen things, i have heard quite a few say in Florida's favor. So Tebow might not be the most important piece of the puzzle now, meaning Tebow can go to Bama and still give us more than an outside chance of getting Schaeffer

Mustain is ARK/TENN bound, maybe Florida. But Tebow has been Florida's main man for awhile and he grew up a Gator fan.

I thought Fulmer wasnt going to allow Schaeffer to transfer to another SEC school...

Fulmer supposedly had the right to keep Schaeffer from transferring directly from TENN to any school on their schedule over the next few years. Schaeffer decided to play instead of sit a year or return to TENN, so he chose to go to a Junior College. Now, since he is at a JUCO, he can go wherever he wants to without having to sit out one season. He will be a junior next year at whatever school he chooses... he'll have 3 years to play his Junior and Senior seasons.

he didn't exactly "choose" to go to juco. There's a funny thing that happens to kids when they try and transfer from TENN...their credits don't transfer. Odd huh? This has happened to lots of kids at UT, a couple directly related to us, remember brandon jefferies?

^ Very true. But he doesn't want to sit. He wants to play. I don't blame anybody that would rather go to JUCO and play compared to go sit on the bench for a season.

An Arkansas recruit, Mitch Mustain has softened up his verbal to them and has reentered the recruiting race...Florida is one of his candidates, him could there could also help our Shaeffer chances..for those he dont know, he is the #1 Quarterback in the nation

I don't think UF is a major player with him

^^which may explain why we seemed to have backed off of Andrey Baskin from NJ.

http://ncstate.rivals.com/content.asp?CID=488957

From the link:

One of the finalists may be easing up their recruitment of him.

"I have not talked to NC State in about three weeks," he said. "I want to visit there though."

^ That's probably becuase we feel he's a lock for UT. That, or we actually like someone else a lot better

(Not saying I've heard that at all... but if he's all he's cracked up to be and really thought we had a shot, we'd be on him)
