Maybe it has something to do with the fact that they play teams like Penn.

i dont know where you get your info. first, penn is a tournament team 2nd, duke has played at indiana this year michigan state 2 years ago but most of the powerful teams duke play dont want to do home and home deals and have to go to cameron so most of them happen on nuetral courts. (texas and ou for example).

i dont like the shots jjs been taking the last 2 games. i knwo he usually takes crazy shots but these last 2 games its just been like watching the lakers or sixers

All the CT papers reported that Calhoun approached K about a home and home and K said he doesn't do road games in the Northeast. Basicially said '1 at Cameron; 1 at MSG'.. yea that is fair.

Take that with a grain of salt since CT newspapers aren't exactly enamored with Duke but outside of the ACC/Big 10 I RARELY if EVER see Duke play true OOC road games...

but yea Penn is usually a relatively strong team.. p.s.-- Alabama (who we play) is getting roughed up by ND...

Why would Duke play OOC road games seriously, though? If ESPN/2 is going to broadcast ALL their shitty names nationally what is the point in take the risk of playing a UConn or a Syracuse or a Kentucky on their home floors? It isn't a risk worth taking.

V I think people make a big deal about it because every year they see UNC, Syracuse, Maryland, UConn, etc, etc go and play these high profile OOC true road games. I don't have a problem with the way Duke schedules. People used to complain about UConn's somewhat weak Decembers. But like Duke, how can you argue with how they schedule given their success.. It's ridiculous..

whats the point of ooc road games. playing on nuetral courts gets you ready for the tournament.

i know, since we play bama and they are fairly high ranked if ND wins it looks better for their wins and adds to our RPI

not to mention Bama shouldnt fall far if they lose so it would be another ranked opponent for us.

i don't mean to be a duke homer, but it was very clear before the season in multiple publications that duke's schedule was made this way for a reason. they wanted to play every different style of basketball they could in their OOC games. they've played tough scrappy teams (indiana), quick athletic teams (memphis), slow, methodical teams ala nc state (davidson and penn).

the texas game will be the litmus test, but i think that playing different styles in different environments is the key...

most duke games are 1-1 home/away matchups that rotate yearly...the majority of their other games are coaches tied into duke somehow (through duke or west point)...they don't just randomly find that information

duke has a very tough OOC schedule this year anyway: indiana, texas, memphis, st. john's, bucknell (VERY good team without much publicity), and georgetown...

that's a pretty decent schedule paired with the wear and tear of acc play...is there another acc team that has a tougher schedule?

duke has the #1 RPI currently

I agree with you about the scheduling. I don't see any point in ridiculing them for that.

However, that is crap. #1 RPI SOS??? (that source.. not you point it out fwiw) How?? When you have a team like Gonzaga that has played #3, #12, #19, and #20... Duke has played #11 and #16 .. The numbers just don't add up.
