I wish Ryan Adams was shitty just so I could completely hate him instead of begrudgingly respecting his musical talent.

Hhahahahaaha.

Can't you hate him personally, respect his technical proficiency to some degree, and have mixed feelings about his compositional ability?

^^^maybe not, i should've worded that better, it's more like most people who listen to final fantasy also listen to some/all of these bands
* Wolf Parade
* The Arcade Fire
* Joanna Newsom
* Sufjan Stevens
* The Decemberists
* Ultima Online
* Andrew Bird
* The Books
and if you like those then there is probably a good chance you'll like final fantasy
this was taken from last.fm btw

i just saw the avett bros. at unc and despite some of the crappy crowd, they put on an amazing show. i had only heard a couple of their songs before tonight, but i'll be checking them out every time they come through from now on.

^^,^^^seriously though, they are outstanding...they both graduated from my roommate's high school which is how our group all found out about them, they've all been going to their shows for going on 4 years, i've been going for about 2 years - their energy is absolutely electric and their sound is so original...can't wait for the new cd feb 7th

i was there tonight too...it was a blast

a great show even by their standards

we had an over/under on broken strings, the count got to five

^^ the avett brothers are so tough to fit into any one genre

people have called them "americana"

the best thing i can come up with is a mix of bluegrass, rock, a little, little slice of country, and maybe the smallest ever twinge of blues

it IS the hotness

Two "new" ones that I really like are The Light Footwork and Oh No! Oh My!

and I think they've been around for awhile, but The Features are really good too...

google. they have a website that has a couple videos.

but even the live video doesn't really capture what i saw last night (despite the bad sound at the unc student union).

also i know at least one of their albums is at schoolkids on hillsborough.

i've bought all my avett's cds at their shows - however, as far as i know, more than a few indepedent record stores carry their two main releases so far, "a carolina jubilee" and "mignonette".

http://www.theavettbrothers.com/

follow the link to the store - all the cd's are 15 bucks, they even have their recent live one on sale -

steer clear of the "oh what a nightmare" album though, it was their venture into heavy rock, and well, it sucks

but everything else is awesomeness^n

^^ and yes, their live performances might be the best i've ever seen - i like to bring people to their shows before i let em listen to their cds, it's much easier to appreciate the cds that way
