There are too many bowls, and most 6-5 teams don't deserve to go. And if I went to any school other than N.C. State, I'd say we don't deserve one. Hell, I come close to saying it now.

obviously you needed to watch it and see his tone of voice when he said it, he didnt just say us either

there was a distasteful tone like "omg those ncstate fans are lucky such a shitty team should be there"

Dont get me wrong, I dont like it when the media bashes NC State

But this shit is getting funny. For every comment about the school or its teams, someone comes and bitches in sports talk.

News Flash: Nobody respects us anyway, get over it. Hell, I'm surprised when someone writes something good about us.

i dont understand the whole "too many bowl games" argument

it seems like more football and economy stimulation would be considered good things

Yeah,

but at the same time "Going to a Bowl" is mighty watered down nowadays, considering nearly half of the Div 1A teams go to a bowl

yeah, that's sad that a team 1/2 a game over .500 gets a bowl. way to reward mediocrity.

that may be

technically there are only 4 games that really "matter" anyways, so whats the point in all the other clutter?

weren't some 7-9 teams in the running for the playoffs in the NFC last year?

I know the Rams got in at 8-8....now do you feel so bad about going bowling? Those guys are pro's too.

^ But the difference is that you play the one bowl game and you are a hero. To be considered good in the nfl an 8-8 team would ahve to make it to the superbowl.

eh, I dont think anyone is considering us hero's.

Yeah, its not a great bowl, but I agree that its dumb to take cheap shots at bowl eligible teams because of their record.

I think to be considered hero's you have to get the BCS bowl or the second best bowl in your conference. I'm personally just excited for more football...even if our team sucks.

I mean...there are good 6-5 teams, and I think we are a decent 6-5 team. But if you're an outside observer and you look at our results:

3-5 in the ACC
beat a 1-AA team for one of our 6 wins
lost to wake
lost to unc
got obliterated by clemson and bc

gg on the fsu (who lost 3 in a row) and gt (who was inconsistent as hell this year) games

not impressive at all

you people are forgetting the little guys. what about those teams from the shitty conferences that barely qualify for one of their few bowl bids? its like a fucking miracle for those people. we need as many bowls as exist now to give those disadvantaged small schools a chance

The whole point of the bowl is to reward players who were able to get through the regular season with a "winning" record.

We did just that. It wasn't pretty, but then again, that's why we're not going to the most prestigious of bowls either.

NC State didn’t have a successful season…but the fact still remains that we are a competitive football team…

we beat the ACC champs on the road, feature one of the best defenses in the country, and have a huge fan base.

If we don’t turn the ball over, we can play with anybody in the country… maybe not win.

how did we get obliterated by BC? We were down by two touchdowns and forced to go
for it on a long fourth down, then BC just decided to pile on the score with a minute to
go in the game. They only had 29 more total yards and we were beating them by 10..
I wouldn’t consider that being obliterated, but everyone is entitled to their opinion.

^^ yeah we beat the ACC "champs" on the road, but we all know they werent even the 2nd best team in the league

and if BC didnt "obliterate" us, Clemson sure as shit did, at home, in prime time, on espn, on thursday night

What is even dumber than this basic reward for mediocrity is that everyone will get a ring for the Meineke Car Care Bowl, as well as every other bowl probably. Notice I said everyone, not "the winner"....even if we lose, we the team will get rings. UNC apparently has rings for their "second place finish" in the Tire Bowl last year. There are plenty of reasons to get rings, but not for losing in a pre-January 1st bowl game. National championships, conference championships, maybe a Final Four appearance, thats about it.

If You Draw The Line at 7-5 then no mid majors would ever get in because they have to go play tough OOC teams.
