He's tried to rile the students at every single game so far.

yeah I love it when Herb gets all fired up. He yells, his voice cracks, then when he's finished he squats down again, readjusts his tie, and looks around with his eyes as if he's saying "oh shit did anyone see me do that?"

It's been more consistent so far this season, that's all. Unfortunately, it means we've been more consistent in not running the offense, missing assignments on D and help on drives, and turning the ball over.

I'd like to know what direct correllation an offense's complexity has to its tolerability to watch.

^^ If one doesn't know what's going on, one is inclined to say "OMF WHY ARE THEY PASSING AND NOT SHOOTING OR DRIVING."

It's the same principle behind the morons at hockey games who yell "SHOOOOOOOOOT" all the time on the power play, even when a shooting lane has not opened.

I'm not disagreeing with this statement, but in the past he has been way too calm when we suck balls. How many times do we go 5 minutes without scoring more than 2 points and lose a lead or dig a hole? We do it once a game it seems like...if not more. From what it sounds like, when herb got fired up on saturday it actually worked and we started playing better ball. He has NOT done this consistently in the past. I know, because he they used to just show him on the sidelines shrugging his shoulders when we fucked up a million plays in a row. In the wake game 2 years ago he just sat there in the first half and wouldnt even call a timeout as they went on like a 20-2 run.

Oh yeah, and we also started pushing the tempo after that timeout. Its automatic. We slow down, we suck. We speed up, we win.

^we have the ability to slow it down and win too, we just have to make shots and not throw dumb passes.

No...it depends on the team.

Against someone like App, sure, we can win by speeding it up.

Against a team that wants to run (say, GT), we win by slowing it down.

You're not going to win every game, especially on the road against a strong team.

Wait until we play 'bama and GW before you all start all this anti-Herb shit again.

I'm not going anti-herb. I just think we play better when we run. Thats all...and I think you have to choose the right times to slow it down.

I dont agree that we do better against faster teams when we slow it down. I think the whole offense works better against agressive defenses that will overplay the ball, but not against teams that want to run.

I dont know though...thats why I'm talking about it here. I just got incredibly frustrated watching the Iowa game, and I saw the same thing in the first half of the App game.

It continues to amaze me when "fans" criticize their team's coaching decisions. Does anyone here truly believe they are more qualified to coach our basketball team? Do you think Herb runs this style just to piss off the fans? Do you think you are more qualified to put together a game plan than he is?

Now I'm not saying fans shouldn't be allowed to express their opinions about their team. That's what makes sports great and perhaps one of the best things to talk about. But when people continue to criticize the same things over and over, despite the fact that we are a winning program that continues to get better and better, it gets old. This is the way our team plays. Get over it.
