Good he is dead. Now lets kill the next person on death row. His death sentence was like 25 years. I have known kids with cancer that didn't get that long of a chance. Lets speed up the process have like atleast one execussion a week. 12/13/2005 8:07:52 AM |

the biggest injustice was that they let him live 25 years on death row. the 27 year old that he shot in the back hardly got to live half as long as williams himself did.
and
they should have hung him. 12/13/2005 8:51:08 AM |

You do the crime, you pay the price. Though I think there should be ample time to fight the penalty of death and the crime... 3 years max... this 15-20 year bullshit is getting crap is rediculous.
These people were convicted by a Jury on horrendous crimes of which there was little to no doubt of what they did. Sure there are exceptions as with all things but still. I'm not about to say "next!" or some lame shit like this but you need to take an emotionless standpoint.
Look at what they did. These people did not get the death sentence for being nice! It's already proven that prison doesn't fix some people.
Someone once asked me who do I think I am for choosing whether someone lives or dies?
Hi my name is Chad Stinner, we have laws to protect people, you broke those laws in a manner so severe that the courts deemed you unsafe to the community and your crime so horrendous that the judgement was death. That's why I believe in the death sentence.
I actually think it should be used more often. You were selling kilo's of cocaine? Death. You raped a 5 year old? Death. You killed someone in another gang to get rep? Death.
If you eliminate the problem at it's source it goes away. 12/13/2005 8:58:11 AM |

I just don't see why death in prison ("life" in prison means you die there and if you've ever been to a prison you know the inmates aren't "living") isn't enough.
The last part of what you said annoys me. "If you eliminate the problem at it's source it goes away" Think about that - if we spent more $ on education at a young age, maybe there would be less crime. Plenty of other countries who do not have the death penalty have a LOWER crime rate than the US. Don't forget it costs more to enforce the death penalty than to keep someone in prison until they die.12/13/2005 9:15:41 AM |
BobbyDigital Thots and Prayers 41777 Posts user info edit post |
Are you implying that there is a causative relationship between educational funding and crime rate? I'd like to see some data on that.
Also, yes, it does cost more to enforce the death penalty than a life sentence. That needs to be fixed. 12/13/2005 9:18:59 AM |

Putting this guy to death did nothing. He did positive things with his life behind bars and may have 'eliminated the problem at its source' for some other young children who would have chosen his early path

It set an example not to follow anything about this man. He had no change of heart or life change-it's just "jailhouse religion" in my opinion. He deserved all that he got-and finally the justice system showed another example of justice. 12/13/2005 10:02:11 AM |

Are you being serious? What shining example of justice was shown? Don't you feel as though the United States and California merely showed that they are as apathetic about life as Tookie once was? They are now murders just as he was.12/13/2005 11:51:49 AM |

that is the most absurd thing i have ever heard.
i can somewhat understand the death penalty for someone who commits the heinous crime of murdering someone in cold blood, or raping some kid. but putting someone to death for possessing a kilo of coke is just rediculous.
It'd be more justifyable to kill off those Enron dudes who fucked 1000's of people out of their retirement savings and jobs then some dude selling a substatnce that boils down to the end user as a victimless crime12/13/2005 12:00:18 PM |

That's hardly prison - if you think it's a cakewalk you should visit one.
Think about this...
California spends an additional $114 million per year to keep its capital punishment system. This same money would pay for: 1,500 additional law enforcement officers ($77,000 per year, California average) or 3,800 new, fully-equipped patrol cars annually ($30,000 each) or 38,000 more people getting into alcohol and drug treatment annually ($3,000 each).
A White House report in 2001 determined that “The return on this investment was found to be three to one: every $1 spent on treatment saved society $3. The savings resulted from reduced crime-related costs, increased earnings, and reduced healthcare costs that would otherwise be borne by society”. What would make California communities more secure – maintaining the current execution system, warts and all, or using the same money for 1,000 more police officers together with an additional 500 new patrol cars every year, plus treatment for 7,000 more alcoholics and drug addicts per year?

All of this talk about him being a saint and doing more for society is bullshit. Yeah he wrote a book that said don't join gangs. The only reason it even sold is because he wrote it. That hardly merits sparing his life. Not to mention the things that his supporters don't discuss their "good man" doing is throwing chemicals, urine, and shit at corrections officers, continued to participate in the crips gang in prison (something that was in the prosecutions clemency packet), and refusing to give intellegence to gang officers, or support and encourage other crips that wanted to. He said he was no snitch. This good Tookie thing started just over the past several years as his other appeals became exhausted.
Oh yeah and I don't even know why we debate the issue of capital punishment somewhere between 2/3 and 3/4 of Americans support it. The only reason it is such an issue is because of the small groups that protest it so vehimently. 12/13/2005 3:13:09 PM |
