If your overall gpa is above a 2.0 ,you will not be on academic warning. So, nothing will happen and you will have the ability to do the same thing again, digging an even bigger hole.

Often if students don't have a hard wake up call, the behavior that got them in trouble is repeated until such a time that they are on warning or suspended. If you make a turn around now/next semester, you can avoid this.

Academic probation/warning doesn't meen a whole Hell of a lot, maybe reduced hours and I think you have to meet with you advisor an extra few times or something. Its that academic suspension that is more unpleasent. If you get to that point the only way you can get back in is to get your GPA up through distance ed and summer courses.

That would be funny/a good quote in a Soap Box thread.

pimp, google NC State's website, they usually pull up good results. Google results from "academic probation":

http://www.ncsu.edu/policies/academic_affairs/academic_progress/REG02.05.1.php
Quote :
"3. Academic Probation Status

[...] Students will not be considered in good academic standing while on Academic Probation Status. The Timely Advising Requirement applies to students on Academic Probation Status. [...]. Students who obtain a cumulative GPA above the suspension level, after being placed on probation status, will have the probation status discontinued. Students who do not obtain a cumulative GPA above the suspension level, by the end of the spring semester after being placed on probation, will return to Academic Suspension Status. "

Quote :
"2. Academic Suspension Status

Academic Suspension Status is assigned at the end of the spring semester to students who do not meet the minimum eligibility standards and who were enrolled in either the fall or spring semester. Academically suspended students are subject to the provisions of the regulation on Readmission of Former and Academically Suspended Undergraduate Degree Students, REG02.10.2 .
"

http://www.ncsu.edu/policies/academic_affairs/enrollment/admissions/REG02.10.2.php

Quote :
"
5.1.1 Upon receiving the first notice of academic suspension from the University, a mandatory one regular semester break in enrollment will be imposed for the semester following receipt of the notice (i.e., the Fall or Spring semester).

5.1.2 During the one-semester break in enrollment, a suspended student may take advantage of an alternative readmission program. This requires a Psychoeducational Assessment offered by the University Counseling Center.
"

Several options:
1) Admit you need help NOW. You visit the right people and make an honest effort, they'll take that into light/consideration.
2) Wait out the semester and hope you can manage a 2.0 every semester until you graduate. Then pray you can find somebody that will hire you in your field with a 2.0.
3) Enroll in a community/techical college; 4-year universities aren't for everybody.
4) Drop out of college entirely

Take the counseling seriously, I had a senior design team member who went through it and made 3.5s+ the last couple semesters. Final GPA was a little under a 3.0 ... still got hired and making good money. I also had a roommate who BSed the whole process; did alright for a couple of months and then went back to old habits ... no idea what has become of this person.

Actually, you pay close to $200/year for the medical center; its the second highest fee after the education and technology fee. That includes money for the second floor, counseling services, etc., whether you use it or not.

Another option it to drop out of school for a semester/year/whatever until you get things figured out. Not sure what your financial situation is, but if you can afford to, or can find a humble enough job to make ends, its an option.

perhaps if you spent more time studying rather than threading you could have done better in those classes....
