i have to have that 3/8 size though, or something just slightly larger and a matching tap.

i know this is vague as shit and dont help much.....but riding around the other night, i saw a minivan with a company's logo on it...specialized in only nuts and bolts, a local company

buddy of mine said they were the best place in the world to find any hardware you were looking for, said it was like a walmart for just nuts and bolts

ill try to ask him the name today sometime

ding

Might try Boater's World Discount Marine Center
6286 Glenwood, Raleigh, NC 27560
(919) 787-3338
although it might end up being stainless.

or maybe a 4x4 shop

If using a drill press I would drill through a 4x4 piece of wood and stick new bolt in, then drill through bolt to keep the hole straight. Unless you have access to a lathe.

you could always put the nut on or notch out a space for the hex head or use both the wood and a clamp. you've got enough brains to figure that out. But i'm assuming you're being somewhat of a smartass

If need be I have a lathe and I guess we could make it... just buy a good bolt chuck it up and center drill it, then put a grease fitting in the end.

yeah thats what i did. the hole all the way through is only 1/8 and then i drilled out about another 3/4 of an inch or so big enough to tap it for the grease fitting.
