A large portion of my favorites have already been mentioned, but where's Starfox, come on, that was a great game.

Favorite SNES game though, gotta give it to Chrono Trigger.

The official FF2 and FF3 are Japanese only games for the NES. FF2 however was later released in the US with a facelift on the PS1 and GBA systems combined with FF1 as well.

When FF4 for the SNES came out in America, it was changed to FF2 since the actual FF2 and FF3 were not released in the US and Nintendo wanted to remove confusion. FF5 was for the SNES but was skipped over for a US release and then when FF6 came out in japan, it was released in the US as FF3 since we had yet to get the official 2, 3, and 5. The official FF5 was later released for the PS1 combined with FF6 in Final Fantasy Anthology. It wasn't until FF7 came out on the PS1 that Square published its own games and had the game keep its original number.

Confused?

My props go out to Secret of Mana. I loved that game, still do. Great plot, great battle engine, great magic system; everything about this game is great (except having to backtrack to free an ally stuck behind something). I'd spend hours in the Mana Fortress leveling up on stats and trying to get the last few weapon orbs not available through bosses.

Anyone ever find solar magic?

Not quite.

1-3 were on the NES/Famicon. Only FF1 was released in the US, though.
4-6 were on the SNES/Super Famicon. Only 4 and 6 were released here (as FF2 and FF3, respectively).
