Is it really worth getting the DVDs for online classes, or just going over the books and online lectures and so forth? I just don't see paying $50 for something thats worth $5 tops.
The classes I'm speaking of are MA 241 and MEA 101.
Also, has anyone ripped these DVDs before? Eheh 12/19/2005 3:12:40 PM |

i'm pretty sure the 50 bucks is just a deposit
you should get it all back when you return the dvds at the end of the semester 12/19/2005 4:28:07 PM |

The cost of the DVDs also covers the initial costs of filming/editing the video and all the technology that goes along with it. They do a nice job with them.
And this is not an online course (http://www.ncsu.edu/registrar/courses/websprg.html), this is a distance education course, which has a separate charge for tuition and fees (http://delta2.ncsu.edu/infofact/index.php?id=MA:241::601:SPRG:2006).
And to answer your question:
Quote : | "All VHS and DVD media are available from the NCSU Bookstores. Media sets are loaned for the semester with a $50.00 security deposit which is refundable if it is returned on or before the date listed on the contract. If the media is not returned, the deposit is forfeited and a hold is placed on the student's account until the media is returned. " |

Right, I understood this much. I was just wondering if the DVDs are really worth the waste of money for the time, or if the book would suffice. And I referred to these as online because I'm taking all DE courses, miles from NCSU, which are all conducted mostly online.

It really depends on your learning style to answer your own question. I'm one of those people that has to be lectured to and has to write it down to get it. Some people can go just by the book and any notes posted online and be fine. Your call, but just hope you aren't kicking yourself in the butt at the end of the semester. Not that hard to wake up, be half-asleep, drink coffee, and watch a lecture. 12/19/2005 8:21:36 PM |
