So I was driving down Avent Ferry when a car just pulled out right in front of me trying to cross the road. Apparently she didn't see me at all. So my Jeep just plowed right into her passenger side going 40mph.
It looks like the front left tire was blown and several parts of the front axle are bent. The bumper is fine, got to love the Bulletproof bumpers. It had a lot of her paint on it though. I hope that there isn't much hidden damage to the Jeep. It doesn't look too bad just from the pictures. It destroyed the side of her car though.

If you were coming down Avent Ferry Rd and she pulled out in front of you, then why (in the first pic) are you still plowed into her car in the Kangaroo parking lot? 12/19/2005 8:37:40 PM |

Did you try to stop at all? From the angle of the first pic either her car has a 0-60 of 2 secs and you couldn't see her or you should have been on the brakes big time. 12/19/2005 10:25:56 PM |

She was coming from the street opposite of the gas station. I vaguely saw her pull out and it looked like she was going into the lane to the left of me (I was traveling in the far right lane). So I wasn't paying too much attention to her. When I realized that she was right in front of me, I had a spilt second to react. You can see the skid marks that my tires made.
I really didn't even tense up. The whole thing, from her pulling out to me slamming into her, took maybe three seconds total. 12/19/2005 10:33:36 PM |

im thinkin the first pic is misleading, from the damage in teh 3rd pic, and the flat tire, looks like LF of jeep caught RF of car, and spun it a little.12/19/2005 10:52:12 PM |

I've been rear-ended twice in my Jeep. Definitely comes up the winner in most collisions.
a.) One time some chick was talking on her cell phone and slammed her Isuzu Rodeo into the back of me. Completely smashed her front end, but I wound up with two scratches on the bumper that I never fixed (I kind of like it).
b.) A week or two ago, some woman was fiddling with her Xmas presents at a stop light and bumped into the back of me, and just bounced of the rear bumper.
My sister also got into a wreck in her XJ, and the other woman's Hyundai came out the worse. 12/20/2005 6:49:56 AM |

A guy pulled out in front of my 3000GT in a parking lot, I was probably moving at 10 MPH after I slammed the brakes, even then, I pwnt his driver side and had just a few scratches on my bumper. It pays to drive a two-ton beast 12/20/2005 9:12:06 AM |

Since it's a Jeep, and parts are everywhere, you can probably get her insurance to cut you a big check and then fix it yourself for cheap.

i got rear ended in my xj by a hyundai or some other craptastic early 90s car, she was doing going about 30 when she hit me, bend the trailer hitch a little and that's it. Guy we sold it to ran into a deer last month and it took out the headlight and pushed the fender back 1/2". Solid vehicles.
hope her insurance doesn't take forever and you get what you want out of this.

fuck capitol city police or atleast the way they view accidents, i got hit from behind while turning left with my signal on etc, and it was ruled no fault...this was on tryon, in the 2 lane with no median, just a solid double yellow line...the cop was taking my side til the nigger who hit me's boss came up and talked to the cop away from everyone else...now i just never saw what the boss had to do with anything being that he came up 30 min after the accident... 12/20/2005 8:02:45 PM |

NC is a no fault state.
that is true
btw police can say who they think is at fault, but it the insurance companies who determine fault
how do I know this for a fact????
my mother-in-law has been an insurance adjuster for 18 yrs....she has told me all this 12/21/2005 9:27:57 AM |

Quote : | "The term "no-fault" auto insurance is often used loosely to denote any auto insurance program that allows policyholders to recover financial losses from their own insurance company, regardless of fault. But, in its strictest form, no-fault applies only to state laws that both provide for the payment of no-fault first-party benefits and restrict the right to sue, the so called “limited tort” option. The first party benefit coverage is known as personal injury protection (PIP).
Under current no-fault laws, motorists may sue for severe injuries and for pain and suffering only if the case meets certain conditions. These conditions, known as a threshold, relate to the severity of injury. They may be expressed in verbal terms (a descriptive or verbal threshold) or in dollar amounts of medical bills, a monetary threshold. Some laws also include minimum requirements for the days of disability incurred as a result of the accident. Because high threshold no-fault systems restrict litigation, they tend to reduce costs and delays in paying claims. Verbal thresholds eliminate the incentive to inflate claims that may exist when there is a dollar "target" for medical expenses. However, in some states the verbal threshold has been eroded over time by broad judicial interpretation of the verbal threshold language, driving up costs.
Currently 12 states and Puerto Rico have no-fault auto insurance laws. Florida, Michigan, New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania have verbal thresholds. The other seven states — Hawaii, Kansas, Kentucky, Massachusetts, Minnesota, North Dakota and Utah — use a monetary threshold. Three states have a "choice" no-fault law. In New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Kentucky, motorists may reject the lawsuit threshold and retain the right to sue for any auto-related injury. Colorado’s law reverted back to the tort liability system in July 2003." |
The police only gave away her insurance information. My company is not getting involved at all. The report says that she caused the accident.
I got five letters from lawyers in the mail today. They're on top of things. Unfortionately the person with the other driver's insurance company never seems to be in the office and has not called us at all yet. 12/21/2005 1:09:43 PM |
