Seriously, I don't know how the fuck someone can do that. To put all that energy into the best rivalry in sports, and then just switch sides. Fucking traitorous piece of shit.

holy shit. that pisses me off a lot. but he's being way overpaid. that's what the yankees do though. they trade away all their prospects, overpay for old talent, and they will continue to feel the wrath of their decisions.

[Edited on December 20, 2005 at 11:11 PM. Reason : i am not happy with damon. I'll still do his wife, but damnit if he hasn't ruined my opinion of him]

I just don't get it. I really don't. I don't understand how you can be on one side of that rivalry (like I am as a Mets and Red Sox fan) and be absolutely CONSUMED by it and then turn around and sign with the other. I didn't understand it when Pedro THOUGHT (and I never got the feeling he REALLY considered the Bronx) about it and I DEFINITELY don't understand it now.

People down here can talk about 'the money' but you ask 90% of the people from where we're from and it is unfathomable.

It fucking pisses me off. I meant it when I said Damon is NOTHING to me now. Nothing he did matters. It was Schilling. It was Manny. It was Ortiz. It was Lowe. It was Wakefield. It was Pedro. It wasn't a FUCKING YANKEE.

my heart literally hurts. i hate the yankees with a passion, and now he is part of that hatred.

but at least the yankees are sticking to their guns of trading away young talent and signing old players. damon will be worthless in a year or two with injuries, mark my words. thats why the sox wouldn't sign his ass for what he was demanding.

Does it? Tell me another time when a BIG TIME player (and I'm not talking Mark fucking Bellhorn) goes from the Boston Red Sox to the New York Yankees. Please. Enlighten us.

V you know that is different. He went from Boston -> Toronto -> New York

Boggs is the only one. He was old as shit and not wanted back in Boston. Nothing else is comparable in this generation.

^ I understand that. How would you feel 10 minutes after you found out something like Mark Grace or Ryne Sandberg elected to go to the Cards over the Cubs though?

Maybe roger will return and lead the sox to a perfect record vs. the evil empire.

i didnt realize this was so fresh, ive been quite busy this week

well, i didn't want them to do anything to re-sign him. IMO his best years are behind him, he knows that, that's why he was trying to get a long term high paying deal. I wouldn't want the sox to give him 52 over 4. Doesn't mean it doesn't hurt me to see him in a yankees uniform.

Like ive said, the only good part is that the yankees continue to overpay for people are not the future.

The Yankees haven't been trading away their prospects this year. George is finally listening to Cashman about that. Thank God.

And Damon will look juuuust fine in pinstripes.

He doesn't get a free pass from me cuz he was a damn Boston guy, but he can prove himself and I'll be happy.

^^^ not that I know of. Of course, I've been kind of busy with work and grad school applications, so I've kind of fallen behind on the Hot Stove report.

But I mean, they held onto Cano, Wang and Eric Duncan -- their three biggest prospects/young guys. In previous years, you would not have been able to say that.

Except for Cano (320K) and Bernie (yet to agree), every guy in the yankee starting lineup is making at least $10.2 Millon per year.

I heard that this morning as well. That is friggin rediculous. Sure the sox pay out a good bit, but NO ONE PAYS LIKE THAT! There really shouldn't be a reason they don't win the world series every year.

DEAR LORD I HATE THE YANKEES SO SO BADLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What a fuck-face

I remember seeing his house on MTV cribs one time, he had Red Sox memorabilia everywhere in his place. I think I remember his son having long hair and was most likelya red sox fan since the day he was born, hell he was probably taught to hate the yankees. Now daddy has to get a new haircut and get rid of all of those Red Sox memories.

I was kinda impartial to the yankees up to this point - since 75% of their trades result in nothing - but now I really cant stand them anymore. All they do is buy their talent in hopes of assembling an allstar team, every fucking year. Whatever happened to team loyalty, and finding talent from within the organization like every other team does (ahem, Cleveland)??

I truly do believe that the yankees are ruining baseball

When I first heard the news I was pissed the fuck off. How in the fuck could Damon become a Yankee??? But then I realized that the Red Sox owners have never REALLY given their players and management the respect they deserve. Theo had to practically BEG for an average contract! If I were Damon I'd take $52M over $40M any day. It's just the nature of the business.
