*the following is not illegal since i own a genuine copy of windows xp pro (with sp2), complete with holographic top and COA
i want to know how to download individual windows xp pro updates and save them...then i want to know if it's possible to slipstream an xp cd so that those updates are already included in the windows installation...if the second isn't possible, surely it's at least possible to download the updates by themselves and include them on a disc so that i won't have to waste so much time downloading the same freakin' updates every time i reformat 12/22/2005 5:25:07 PM |

You want the "Windows Update Catalog."
When you open Windows Update, click the "User administrator options" link on the left. Select Windows Update Catalog under the "Update multiple operating systems" heading. You can select the OS you want to download updates for and then add the updates. When you get ready to download, it'll ask you where to save them. Most of the updates are just .exe files.
I'm reasonably sure that there's a way to install an updated copy of XP, but I don't remember exactly how. 12/26/2005 9:08:57 PM |
