I think they make a noticeable difference on a higher powered FWD car. I noticed a difference in handling under power as well as less wheel hop. There wasn't much more vibration than stock, although it does get a bit louder inside the car.

For $23, the prothane mm inserts were a worthwhile mod for me. I think I'm going to get some LCA bushings next..

okay I was wondering because my engine mounts are about shot. I don't give 2 shits about wheel hop though as my car is a 93 accord. Although 9whp does sound nice
Guess I'll have to fork out the $ and buy new engine mounts.

I don't know if inserts will fix an already broken/worn mount.

Yeah, just get some OEM shyte, you might be able to find them used online from someone who did a swap or something. I don't know how expensive they are or anything though.

agreed, unless you have a specific reason, go w/ OEM.

go for stock.

i had someone replace mine (which in hindsight was very stupid), and it was very simple.

the mounts are rather cheap at rockauto.com, but i dunno if they are as good as OEM.

Well, I said "higher powered," like above average. It doesn't really require much hp to fall into that definition honestly. I'd say my shitsack is putting out ~240whp, which isn't really much, but you can't deny it's getting up there for a fwd vehicle.

Done what? I'd say it's a reasonable estimate. The shit tends to make 220-230whp stock.

you should be more than 240whp if you have the wga cranked to more than 15...but yeah, wheel hop is our enemy.

Yeah, I hope that once I get those LCA bushings most of the wheel hop will be eliminated.

[Edited on January 1, 2006 at 9:06 PM. Reason : I've got it set to spike 17-18 and taper to 14 at the redline btw]

hindsight. prothane inserts in the civ... with all 4 installed, the car felt like it had an air chisel attached to the cab at various rpm levels. horrible for street. i removed the side mount inserts, and it calmed the vibes down, but im about to remove them all for driving comfort. btw, motor mount inserts for 88-91 civ for sale - $10!!

^ I only have the top and bottom mounts, but for me the benefits outweigh the negative effects. If you don't have wheel hop issues or anything, you probably don't need them.

^^ Yeah the fact that it can raise the boost enough by itself to make 300whp on the stock turbo (With the proper supporting mods) is even nicer.

don't sleep on SRT-4's

we can all agree the chassis is sub-par, but you can't fuck with that motor. I came pretty close to buying one about a year ago. Mitsu should have put that engine in the Eclipse

^^There are PLENTY of people with over 300whp on the stock turbo.

Just go onto SRTforums.com, it's so easy there's a faq on how to make 300whp on the stocker....

those engine mounts worked for me. no wheel hop at all when i had them in my blue integra.

it was a higher HP FWD car.

i still have them in there, there is a difference between my blue teg and my white one.

they were like $25 when i got them like 5 years ago or something

question also - is there a large variation in the level of stiffness in the bushings these companies produce? those things i have are horribly stiff...
