this has happened to me before and a reinstall normally fixes it
but its being stubborn (first time its happened since i started using v.7)

certain tools the variable panel will not appear

for example

if i try to adjust the levels on a picture

by hitting ctrl+L or what not

the cursor just turns into the eye-dropper tool

and i can't do anything but hit escape

any ideas/fixes?

also, it acts as if the adjustment panel is out there somewhere
i.e., if i hit alt+f4, it ends the adjustment process not the program

check the keyboard shortcuts under the edit menu

also make sure the ctrl key isn't sticking at all and it actually works, I've had that happen before.

well that was the point of the "what not"
it doesn't matter if i use a keyboard shortcut or go through the menus

it clearly is opening the dialog box
i just isn't presenting it to me

but i'll check and see what you're talking about

maybe this is a clearer explaination

if i'm choosing a filter

it will go ahead and be previewing whatever the last changes selected were

so say i last did an unsharp mask at 20/80, then its gonna give me that preview, and if i hit return, it applies it and i can move on, i just can't select different variables for the filter because it isn't presenting me the tool window

set workspace to default? maybe it's just hiding the dialog box.

This isn't a problem, it's a feature. Thank you for calling Microsoft Technical Support. Have a nice day.
