As for programs for MacOS X: XFactor, Poisoned and Acquisition are probably the top 3 if you've already got BitTorrent.

I've had good luck with Tomato Torrent. It's freeware. I'd also echo XFactor, but perhaps substitute acqlite for Acquisition (basically a freeware version with no nags) for Gnutella. XDonkey is probably the best of the mlnet breeds, though I have rarely used it.

BTW, Poisoned and XFactor access the same networks, but Poisoned seems to be updated less frequently and the last update is less recent.

i dunno what exactly you are looking for but if you have Java installed, http://www.limewire.com works great on any computer (Windows, Mac, Linux)...
