Do not come in here and complain if you don't have a 1280 x 960 monitor.
Tired of making a new thread everytime a new car is released or a concept is shown, this is going to be my perpetual thread, showcasing new releases, concept cars, pre-production debuts, and just some wild unique cars.
I wanted to make this thread in September/October (Frankfurt, Tokyo, Essen Motor Shows), but due to my job, was unable to. But now, there are two motor shows going on in the US, so I have to make this thread.
Needless to say, this thread will be heavy with pictures, the biggest ones being 1280 x 960, but I will try to restrict myself to 1024 x 768. Anybody is welcome to post debuts as they see fit. I know there are 2 others in this forum who post new car debuts.
I actually started a thread like this 2-3 years ago, but it died out, and doesn't show up in search as well for some reason. But the rest of my new car threads can be found here:

I will start off today with:
2006 Lamborghini Miura Concept
There is no engine, and no drivetrain. It was just released on the 40th anniversary of the original Miura. If they build it, it will be the Enzo-fighter by Lambo.
Funny (about Leno):
Quote : | "Deride it as retro, if you will, but the reaction of the crowd was overwhelmingly positive, with the likes of Leno bugging Lamborghini CEO Stefan Winklemann to put him at the front of the line once production begins.
The only problem? According to Winklemann, there are “zero” production plans. The Miura concept is just a fantasy, not even mounted on a running chasses — at least for now. Other company officials suggest that under the right circumstances, they just might consider building the sleekly elegant two-seater. It’s just a question of coming up with the right business case. And that can be tricky when you’re talking about a car in this ultra-exclusive segment of the market. Sure, prices are high, and a production Miura would likely run at least as high as the Lamborghini Murcielago, around $250,000 or more. But that’s really not all that much when you’re building only 100 or so a year. In its entire, initial run, sales of the original Miura didn’t even reach 800.
Still, said an obviously disappointed Leno, “I hope they build it. Why even make the concept if they’re not going to?” " |
This gives a more optimistic look of future production (also says the cost will be around 700K): http://autoweek.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20060105/FREE/60104001/1057

Chrysler Imperial Concept
This is is really mind-blowing.
Just as the 300C is compared with Bentleys a lot (and dubbed the "baby Bentley"), this Imperial will take Chrysler into Rolls Royce Phantom direction (at least look-wise, and quite a bit substance-wise as well).
I would say it looks as good, if not better from some aspects, than the RR Phantom!
Quote : | "At the opposite extreme lies the luxurious Imperial riding on a 123-inch wheelbase, a three-inch stretch over the 300C. To achieve the proper proportions for the concept, the overall length grows 17 inches to 214 inches, and the overall height is six inches taller than a 300C. The car rides on massive 22-inch turbine-finned wheels and tires, with passengers sitting nearly seven inches higher than in the 300C.
Envisioned as a “noble” yet attainable flagship positioned a cut above the 300C (“It’s a six-figure image but at a much lower price,” says Tremont), the concept designed in Chrysler’s Auburn Hills studio doesn’t mimic Imperials of the past, but it does draw on some of the styling cues from those older cars. It also carries expressive attributes from Chrysler’s long line of concept cars, from the 1953 d’Elegance to the Fire-power that premiered at last year’s Detroit show. Among the design details incorporated into the concept: the long flowing hood and front end dominated by an upright radiator and strong horizontal grille; brushed and polished aluminum pods that evoke free-standing headlamps of Imperials from the 1930s and 1960s; circular LED taillights with floating outer rings that bring back the “gun sight” taillight look of early 1960s Imperials; and a roofline pulled rearward to enlarge the cabin and create a strong profile.
The wide-open, B-pillar-less doors allow a panoramic view of the show car’s opulent four-seat, two-tone interior, where no expense is spared when it comes to use of leather, suede, California burl wood accents and satin-finished aluminum. Designers also paid considerable attention to handcrafted components like the sculptured instrument panel with large dual gauges, coved ceiling, and the floating oval armrests in the doors, all bathed in warm light." |
Dodge Challenger Concept
Quote : | "Like Challengers past, this concept packs more than its share of muscle under the hood in the form of an SRT-tuned 6.1-liter, 425-hp, 420-lb-ft Hemi V8, linked to a six-speed manual transmission. Chrysler estimates the fully functional concept should rocket 0 to 60 mph in 4.5 seconds, clip the quarter-mile in 13 seconds and attain a top speed of 174 mph." |
More pics from elsewhere, sorry for the repeats:

It looks just like a modern version of the miura. IMO its lost some of its beauty in the transition, at least up front. With miura headlights, the shape of that grill is almost comical. 1/8/2006 2:13:07 AM |

Replacement for 575M Maranello
2006 Ferrari 599 GTB
6.0 litre V12 620 hp
Love the door handles! DEFINITELY an improvement over the Maranello. Although I wish the back lights were the traditional twins... these singles make it look a bit... don't know, empty?
I wish Ferrari would give consistent names to their different models:
F430 612 Scaglietti 599 GTB Enzo
All have a different format.
Up until recent replacements, the names were consistent: 360 Modena, 575 Maranello, 612 Scaglietti.

Camaro definitely looks meaner from front, side, and back. Also looks more modern, and not as retro. Challenger looks more retro. I don't know which one to choose if I had to, pretty tough! 1/9/2006 6:04:04 PM |

Ford S7? Chrysler Viper?
2006 Mazda Kabura Concept
Pay careful attention to the number of doors on each side, and the seating arrangement. If you can't see it, read this first:
Quote : | "“While examining the habits and tastes of our youthful customers, we found that the majority have a need to carry one or at most two passengers in comfort, while a very small percentage actually use the fourth seat on limited occasions,” von Holzhausen continues, noting the level of research and planning that goes into the creation of a major automaker’s concept vehicle. “Clearly, the standard 2+2 compact coupe configuration with restricted rear access and limited seating space doesn’t work in this context, so we created a 3+1 layout for Kabura that resolves those shortcomings”.
A standard left-side door provides access to the driver’s cockpit and the rear jump seat. The right side is a wholly different and purposely asymmetrical arrangement. Removing the glovebox and minimizing the instrument panel allowed designers to shift the front passenger six-inches ahead of the driver’s seating position. In turn, the second passenger, sitting in tandem behind the right-front passenger, enjoys approximately the same leg, shoulder, and headroom. " |

the *2+1 seating is an interesting concept heh
as for the car, I dont really like the way the front fenders are flared (like RX8) though I made a similar design back in industrial design studio 1/9/2006 7:30:19 PM |

Why are they calling it 3+1?
They say on the left there is: "driver’s cockpit and the rear jump seat"
What's the rear jump seat?
Anyway, who is this hottie? The Chrysler boss's daughter? CAN I MARRY HER???
