the longest and hardest part is filling the rad back up and ensuring there is no air in the system. the whole thing is a 30 minute job tops that you can expect to pay an hours worth of labor for.

i did my civic rad on 40 one day.

^ is right bout filling it up.

is it 5spd or auto.

auto ones may take like 5 extra seconds

what if, hypothetically, the driver hit a guardrail on the driver's side and crunched in the front driver's side slightly. then, let's say for instance that radiator fluid started pouring out in a steady stream, but one can't see where it's coming from.

would that change things?

I'd say that, judging from your hypothetical questions, you've reached the point where you need to find somebody else to do this for you, or at least coach you and help you.

Yes, the collision thing ALWAYS changes things...mounting points for components are often moved significantly, preventing new or used replacements from fitting properly or at all.

I would say that there's a good chance that the bumper cover and/or bumper reinforcement need to come off, and the radiator support straightened or replaced.
