i had the displeasure of living there in 2005 from april through september because of work and luckily found my way back to raleigh. it is beyond ghetto, the entire city is run down. it didn't help that the townhouse complex i lived in was rundown and i turned out to be token. plus i was working for the Braves there and The Diamond on the Blvd is not a good location either. 1/9/2006 9:16:12 PM |

I just moved to Richmond, that's why I was wondering. Don't know many people my age here, and was wondering what the good places to go for mid 20s were. 1/10/2006 12:53:44 PM |

I grew up right outside Richmond (Midlothian). And while it might be ghetto in parts there is plenty to do for 20 somethings. Shockoe Bottom has a bunch of places to eat and bars. The Capital Ale house (downtown and in Innsbrook) reminds me of the Flying Saucer here in Raleigh. There are cultural events, sporting events etc. Check out the Richmond Magazine for a good list of everything. 1/10/2006 5:45:30 PM |

cary street has lots of little bars and places to hang out, bottom's up pizza (in the bottom obviously) just opened back up over the summer i think (they had been closed since the floods). most college and 20-somethings seem to go to three monkeys and the bars in the fan on the weekends...capital ale house is similar to flying saucer if you are looking for a variety of beers (but it is more of a restaurant than a bar, that's where a lot of the younger professionals go- the one on 7th and Main, i don't know about the one out in short pump) for shopping and stuff the most popular place right now is short pump...that's what i know from the 5 months i've been up here, but i can't wait to move back to raleigh

yes the only good thing about richmond was the west end/short pump area. if you're there during the summer then the concerts out at Innsbrook are always good ones. me and my coworkers always had fun at Sharkeys on wednesday nights...that was the only night it was packed. an older crowd and their live band, The Wrest, played a lot of oldies/classic rock/lil country/80's and were pretty awesome. 1/10/2006 6:04:48 PM |
