Because it only takes into account salaried workers. In other words, the suits.1/10/2006 11:20:29 PM |

Anyone with any amount of common sense just ignores this sort of list. I remember reading a report about top employers in NC a while back. The number 2 spot went to Kimley-Horn (the sweatshop of triangle design/engineering firms). Most of them were places that provide all sorts of employee extras on paper, but have a stuffy office culture. 1/10/2006 11:54:18 PM |

i would value the average/mean more than the median. i mean we all know the lowest paid employee in any large organization is probably between $5.15 and $8-$9 per hour. Assuming thats true, then the median is just a function on how much your top exec makes.

The median is the middle value in the distribution of salaries, and is not influenced heavily by the top executives like the average is.
That's what the median is where I come from, anyways.

the median leaves out all the salaries in the company except 2. the mean/average includes all salaries.1/11/2006 12:56:27 AM |

Your point is still invalid. The median represents the typical salary better than the average.
Let's review credentials too.

Bunch of morons. Don't you think average annual salaries would be for someone who's worked an average amount of years to retirement? So which one of you fuckers has slaved for 20 years at any one of these places? 1/12/2006 12:03:21 AM |
