I've seen Denali live. They were okay. They're just one of those bands with a lot of fans that go crazy if you say you don't love them.

Also, I'd wager dmbny414034 knows more about music than most people on this board, and i'm not just saying that because my cock is in his mouth.

maura was in a band called bellalea. they have since changed their name to ambulette after being served a cease and desist by local band bellafea. bellafea did a split with des_ark, a band who was one nc member of the dc/nc connection through lovitt records. they changed their name because they didn't have a leg to stand on should it go to court, and such a pending legal decision was stopping them from releasing an ep. can you honestly tell me these songs are good: http://www.myspace.com/ambulette ?

I've never given a solid listen to any of their albums and really have no strong opinion of Denali one way or the other. I should also say that Rilo Kiley's songs entertain and annoy me in fairly equal measure.

word - well i don't care for sleater kinney or go crazy over rilo kiley - but denali's first album hit a cord w/ me & i love maura's voice.

mostly - the only bands i REALLY love - that have female lead singer, are usually more Trip Hop
