Any theories on why he gets so many bad foul calls? Other than being a shot blocker, there is no reason for him to have a reputation. It's not as if he commits alot of dumb fouls ala Eric Williams.

I watched the GT game in chase mode on my DVR, and replayed all 3 foul calls shaking my head. He also had some bad calls against him take him out of the UNC game.

It'd be nice if this was remedied, b/c we are a completely different team when he is in the game. He's great for our offensive spacing and balance (our only low post player), and a defensive force when not in foul trouble.

^^He played well in foul trouble, I just think he could afford to be more aggressive and block more shots if he wasn't in foul trouble.

^VERY few big men have as quick a whistle as Simmons has had on him in ACC play this year. The few big men that have a quick whistle usually get there by gaining a reputation as a fouler.

In todays game they weren't even weak fouls. He jumped straight up (no contact) to get a rebound and was called for pushing. He made a clean block (hands up, ball blocked straight down, no body contact) right in front of the ref and was called. The third foul took the cake: his man tried to back it in and fell without being touched at Simmons feet, and Simmons was called for tripping.

It's an honest question about calls against a specific player, not a whining/anti-NCSU conspiracy thread. But you are a troll with poor reading skills that probably didn't even watch the game, so it figures.

i have watched a lot of unc's games this year and it seems like the refs are almost protecting hansbrough...he fouls a lot and they never call it, such as on the offensive glass, charging, and on defense but the refs don't call it; it is seriously like they know that unc doesn't have anyone else and they protect him b/c of that

but that will kill them come tourney time when there are no refs to protect him...i am calling it right now that he gets in foul trouble come ncaa tournament time

I think it's a ploy by Herb

Herb asks the officials to blow the whistle so Ced gets less playing time
...as such he makes less of an impression and has fewer "massive" games...
...lesser impression = decreased draft stock
...decreased draft stock = return for junior season
