I'm installing pro on this laptop and it's stalling in the GUI/Graphical stages.

It's always the same spot ("Installing windows") and if I eject the CD it gives me a "device not ready error" and reboots the system. This has been the loop.

I format / start the clean install
files are copied from the CD
reboot to setup
GUI phase starts
Stalls on the 4th bullet ("installing windows") with 39 minutes remaining.

It'll sit there forever, but the HDD is spinning, the CD is reading, the stupid MS Ads are changing periodically (as normal), and the indicator graphic at the bottom right is moving.

I'm kind of stumped here. Windows 2000 was working perfectly, aside from an unknown PCI device driver.

Is there something in this T30 that Windows XP pro/SP2 is hanging up on? I get a gut feeling it's some kind of driver issue, but hell; I thought a xp would have all the drivers already, or the basic ones at least.

Help

Windows 2000 pro installs without a hitch.

Windows XP stalls.

.....anyone?

This is after 2 harddrives, 3 XP CDs, 1 external USB CD drive, and a whole day of cursing.
