Every old tv show that enjoyed even mild popularity will soon be a movie. Every shitty movie ever made has sequels, prequels, and parts 3, 4, 5 coming out. What happened to originality?

Either they've run out of ideas, or they're just capitalizing on America's (and the rest of the world's) inability to distinguish originality from banal repeats. I'd bet on the latter. Special effects are taking the place of good acting and writing.

I thought this thread was already created, or is it just that people post something about this in every movie thread?

Showbiz has always been about stealing/redoing other people's work/ideas

the only difference is that now we have the Internet to complain about it

I saw a commercial for Big Momma's House 2 on TV yesterday.

Is it possible to put a nail in a coffin that has already been buried?

You gotta think, after awhile, they are going to run out of original ideas. I mean, how long have movies been being made? 80 years or so. After that long, the new material pool has almost dried up.

no

audiences go see this shit at a rate, that while smaller, is sufficient to greenlight it

stupid fucking americans and the rest of the world

while movies that are brilliant and stunning get little to no viewers

Movies don't have to be art. If it has a decent to great storyline with good portrayal, it'll attract my attention. I watch them for the stories. What you have to do is completely overlook the terrible movies coming out and focus on the entertaining ones. An example: Big Momma's House 2 holds no interesting story to me, but Last Holiday does, even though there are still going to be some goofy parts.

Granted, some of the movies with sufficient storylines aren't worth a regular theater ticket price, but there are some that are. Currently, I wouldn't mind paying to see Casanova, Glory Road, Tristan & Isolde, The Family Stone, and then I look forward to seeing Last Holiday (although that's kind of a toss-up between theater and rental), Hostel, The Ringer and The Producers on rental because I'm interested in the stories. I'm of course not including indie films, of which there are many I'm interested in.

The solution during slow times, if you're a movie lover, is to get the Blockbuster movie pass ($25/month for unlimited rentals, 2 at a time) or one of the mail rental services, and watch some older films you may have overlooked.

are you kidding me? books have been written for thousands of years, and there are still original ideas. Sure, there are some similar themes, but the details are new.

well, to be fair, i don't give a shit if i'm creating repeat threads. that's one of the privileges that comes with being such a loser that you're still posting on tww 2 years after graduating.

Yeah. I'm just saying. You're complaining about people running out of ideas and remaking stuff over and over. This thread has been made and remade by about ten different people. YOU HAVE THE INABILITY TO DISTINGUISH ORIGINAL THREADS FROM BANAL REPEATS. Or something. Whatever. Forget it, George. It's Chinatown.
