Does anyone here know ballroom dancing? Where did you learn it?

parents made me take classes when i was in the 8th-10th grade, as did all of my other classmates (guys and girls).. i can't say i remember much of it, but if im ever in a situation hopefully i'll be able to pick it up a little more quickly

consider taking social dance

you'll learn the cha-cha, shag/swing, rumba, waltz and foxtrot. even if you only want to learn to waltz, practicing the others will build your confidence and make you a better dancer.

i took social dance at NCSU
i just learned swing by going to various places like the five-o (when it was still around), greenshields (when they used to have swing dancing), and the durham armory. lots of them had lessons before the dancing started.

Yeah... I teach a begineers class for competitive ballroom dance with DWW. I'll likely start a new one in the fall.

No, not really. It makes it a lot easier to get into the GYM, but if one of us vouches for you and gets you on the guest list, you can come.

They go pretty fast. I wouldn't even bother if you're the average male with little dancing experience, you'll just be lost.

I disagree—if you come in the middle of a unit (we go by three-week units), you're screwed. But if you come at the beginning, you should be OK. There's always someone watching to make sure people don't get lost in confusion.
