^^and that had philip not been chosen by the giants with the 4th pick, he would be playing for pittsburgh right now

Hell, I'd be happy if he could just play anywhere.

were you expecting rivers to be in the super bowl by now?

i mean youre acting all envious of the luckiest damned qb ever to get drafted

isnt that statement a little unnecessary?

I was just noting how chance turned out. Rivers was a lock for the steelers until he raised his draft stock

are you joking? people had him below losman and big ben before the senior game

The talk is the Steelers will take Philip Rivers of North Carolina State, a player who brings to mind Bernie Kosar, with their first pick. Rivers had a highly productive college career. So did Alex Van Pelt, who shattered Dan Marino's Pitt records.

Ben Roethlisberger of Miami (Ohio) is projected higher by most draft experts and also could be the Steelers' choice. Roethlisberger played in the Mid-American Conference, which means he's used to playing the game at a slower speed than what he'll see in the NFL. He, like Rivers, might some day be a fine NFL quarterback, but not in 2004 and not likely 2005."

"
4. N.Y. GIANTS -- BEN ROETHLISBERGER, QB. If I were the Giants, I would stay right here and take Big Ben. I would still have my second-round pick to use for a left tackle, Roethlisberger would cost a few million less than Manning and I would be able to keep Kerry Collins around for another year until Ben was ready.

11. PITTSBURGH -- PHILIP RIVERS, QB. The Steelers might have to swap spots with the Texans when Houston is on the clock to make sure they get Rivers. Maddox can stay for one more year like Kitna did in Cincinnati. If they decide to roll the dice instead and miss, then CB Dunta Robinson is still on the board.

Not to say that draft predictions are always right, but he's correct that Phil vastly improved his stock in the senior bowl.

It was true, dolt. You can even look at the draft threads on this damn board. He was a late first round pick until he worked his way up

how the fuck is that even logical? if rivers had not worked his way up, the chargers would have wanted ben, and thats who the giants would have drafted to make the trade
