Quote :
"he new president on "The West Wing" will be a real short-timer: NBC announced Sunday it was pulling the plug on the Emmy-winning political drama in May after seven seasons.

NBC, struggling to regain its footing after the worst season in its history, also outlined several midseason schedule changes including the moves of popular dramas "Law & Order" and "Las Vegas."

"The West Wing" announcement wasn't much of a surprise. Although this season's story line with a presidential campaign involving a Democrat played by Jimmy Smits and Republican portrayed by Alan Alda has been strong critically, ratings have sunk with its move to Sunday nights.

The decision to cancel it was made before actor John Spencer, who played former presidential chief of staff Leo McGarry, died of a heart attack Dec. 16, said Kevin Reilly, NBC entertainment president. "

Although I would have liked to see the next president thing happen, it's really been overall shitty since Sorkin left. Interesting to hear they had already decided to cancel the show before John Spencer died.

Definately a show that I'll watch in cable reruns but there's only been a short span where I cared enough to watch the current episodes, whatever happened to that kookie speech writer Jimmy?

One of the few tv shows I liked, but I was wondering how much longer it could run.

I LOVE this show, but as previously stated it really went downhill during the last few seasons. The way they treated the veteran cast members is really crappy. And, come on, no one can really fill the shoes of Jed Bartlett.

This is so nbc can become the official law and order network. Law and order 23/7 with the other hour being devoted to will and grace reruns. Scrubs is next to go so that they can unveil "law and order special statistics assasination unit" in its timeslot.

West Wing was a bunch of liberal propaganda... once they realized it had failed miserably they wisely decided to cancel it

Has anybody heard anything else about when they'll resume new episodes? It's been a while since they aired the last new one before John Spencer died.

Joey, like a lot of side characters, just sort of faded out of the show.
