OK, here's my plan:

I didn't suspend Woodfoot, but I plan on leaving him in the clink for maybe a week, then unsuspending him. Gotta pay the piper, but he's not a problem poster. He's actually a good guy to have on the board.

I'm also going to unsuspend salisburyboy, but give him a probationary condition. I'm going to make a special thread where he can post whatever the hell he wants, but if I see him posting anything politically oriented anywhere on TWW besides his thread, he'll be resuspended, and probably for a long time, if not permanently.

I don't know if you've already done this or plan to do so, but at the very least start deleting all the cheese-related threads. Lord knows the t-dub servers have years and years of junk threads and other useless shit taking up hard drive space, but you might as well get rid of the recent stuff.

I say "delete" instead of "lock" because, frankly, I don't understand what the point of locking a thread is. If nobody is allowed to post in a thread anymore, why keep it around? Unless you just want it as an example of what NOT to post in Soap Box.

^^The problem with salisburyboy isn't that he's crazier than shit and incapable of forming a logical argument sans cut and paste.

I mean, that's annoying, but that's not suspension worthy in and of itself.

Confining him to one thread strikes a balance between being ideologically opposed to suspending him due to his posting being annoying, but pragmatically glad to not have to scroll past cut/paste from prisonplanet in every thread.

^those threads should take care of themselves. If they somehow don't, then I'll trash them.

Either he'll balk at you for trying to impose them, or he'll eventually start seeping out into legitimate threads, and by then time will have passed and you won't care any more.

Prevent what would otherwise be the inevitable and kick him out now. And what possible logic could you have for continuing to punish Woodfoot, who brought you to power in the first place?

as far as Woodfoot goes, well, he did break the rules rather egregiously. I understand why, and in the long run I think it'll pay off, but I'm not going to slap the powers that suspended him in the face by immediately unsuspending him when he was, in fact, on the wrong side of the law.

^i didn't suspend him, and that's not really accurate. we make leaders the whipping boys for their entire organizations all the time.

that, and i'm not going to go through all of those threads to find out who posted "cheese posts"...especially when I don't really even have it out for Woodfoot himself.

and i agree with Grumpy, trying to restrict someone to x-number of threads is ill advised. how much free time do you have? cuz youll be using all of it to keep track of that shit, playing "where's waldo". once you start doing that where does it end?

most online communities prohibit race-baiting and anti-semitism and other hate speech. so just suspend him every time he does it.

the thing is that salisburyboy has actually gotten a lot better about where he gets some of his sources from. he also actually can debate without copying and pasting, he just ignores some people's points and emphasizes others that he thinks he can run with; that's just like a lot of other posters in here, but he gets flak for it because he's a much smaller minority in the views he posits. everyone harps on any link he posts and tends to block out all the posts he makes without any links.

i disagree with most of what he says too, i just think everyone makes him out to be a lot worse than he really is because he's an easy target. the whole JonHGuth shit and cheese posting episodes were way more disruptive than he's ever been in here.

yeah, but "relevent discussion", and reasonable levels of copy/paste and logical defense of his position are awfully hard to define, which I am certain would ultimately lead to his permanent suspension. It would be setting him up for failure.

with my way, we're both speaking the same language. the ONLY thing that can be open to interpretation is what constitutes "politically oriented" material anywhere besides his thread...and while I will give the benefit of any doubt, I won't hesitate to suspend him for overstepping that provision...so if he's smart, he won't push that limit.
