"Set in the late 21st century, a subculture of humans have emerged who have been modified genetically by a vampire-like disease (Hemophagia), giving them enhanced speed, incredible stamina and acute intelligence, and as they are set apart from "normal" and "healthy" humans, the world is pushed to the brink of worldwide civil war (a war between humans and hemophages) aimed at the destruction of the "diseased" population. In the middle of this crossed-fire is - an infected woman - Ultraviolet (played by Milla Jovovich), who finds herself protecting a nine-year-old boy who has been marked for death by the human government as he is believed to be a threat to humans."

I just saw the trailer for this tonight.

This may well be the shittiest movie of all time. And I'll be there to see it because it's got Milla Jovovich.

I was watching the previews when I went to go see Underworld....and I kept thinking to myself how bad this movie was probably going to be and that I might rent it at some point just because of Milla.

But then the preview was ending and the title for the movie came up......ULTRAVIOLET!!!!!! I couldn't stop laughing. Horrible.

If you wanna see Milla and a decent movie at the same time, I'd suggest "Dummy".

It's not great, but it's not bad, either.

It sounds to me that the producers and whoever are counting on you to watch this movie BECAUSE it has Milla Jovovich.

And that's all and fine, I love Milla as much as the next straight red-blooded American male. But when the only nice feature about a movie is its lead actress, you know that it will be crap-tastic.

1) Looks like a rip off of Equilibrium

2) Nudity?

Just looked it up, and its directed by the same guy who did Equilibrium.

It's kind of funny to accuse something of being a ripoff of Equilibrium, since Equilibrium is nothing more than a ripoff of about ten different things.

How can none of you not see the similarity of Resident Evil? I mean, same voice overs, same girl, and the corporation even seems the same. Might as well call this one RE3.

Just saw it..

Good soundtrack (reminds me a little of the Island soundtrack)... Incredible action sequences... good special effects.

The Plot? The premise was interesting and had potential, but they could have done much much better with it. The execution of the plot and the majority of the acting was rather sub-par, IMO. But it did keep my attention the entire time, so I guess that's worth something.

One of the professors in LCW has banned any material about vampires from being turned in for class, because no matter what it is, it's been done.

"The film's fight choreographer and Kurt Wimmer had some slight disagreement on how the martial art Gun Kata should be performed on screen. You can see little friendly jabs to the choreographer in the film. When Kurt Wimmer performs the Kata at the beginning, you see it's very fluid and smooth. The way it is actually used in the film is very rigid with a few flowing moves thrown in. Also, in Angus MacFayden's speech to the Clerics in training, he says "each fluid position", slightly stressing the word "fluid". Wimmer wanted Gun Kata to be smooth, soft-style. The choreographer, trained in hard-style karate among other things, modified the original gun Kata slightly, and because of budgetary restraints, that's the version we see in the final film. Wimmer has said his own vision of gun Kata can be seen in most of it's glory in his next film, Ultraviolet."

its kind of funny that you single Equilibrium out like that, since most movies are ripoffs of about 10 or more things.
theres a fine line between ripoff and reference.

The reason I "single Equilibrium out like that" is because it's pertinent to the discussion.

It's not like I have this huge love of sickengly derivative films, but I arbitrarily hate on Equilibrium for no reason. It's a piece of shit. It's not the only one around, though.

"Ultraviolet (2006) Poster

More like….Ultra….Suck it!

WOW…..what can I say about this movie that I haven’t already said about Wolf Creek. I told you about how much Wolf Creek sucks….So I will tell you about how much Ultraviolet blows. Katrina doesn’t have anything on Ultraviolet. This movie blows more than Richard Simmons on speed in San Francisco during Spring time. It blows more than….horns….at a…..Jazz Festival….yeah.

I think you get the point.

My favorite quote of the movie, “You got Hemo-Blood on me, IT IS ON!”

Avoid this movie at all cost. Even if you are stoned and visiting Blockbusters and you are like….”hey, she’s hot, and she has a knife”….no, that’s a sword you idiot stoner…

AVOID IT

If you wanted to watch this movie, go see Equilibrium instead, that movie is awesome. "

Quote :
"Have you ever wondered what Equilibrium would be like if they’d had a bigger budget and replaced Christien Bale with a fashion model? Well, you don’t have to wonder anymore, because Ultra Violet came out this weekend.

Seriously, the similarities are amazing, even taking into account Kurt Wimmer directed both. It’s like looking at an artist’s painting of his own charcoal sketch. In this case, the sketch is the superior work. The dialogue for Ultra Violet is boring, inconsistent, and, at some points, down right painful. The incoherent, underdeveloped plot is worse than the dialoged, and anyone who tries to tell you that it’s just deep… well, they probably liked the second Matrix movie better than the first. Actually, you would probably enjoy Ultra Violet if you liked all the long fight scenes from the last two Matrix movies, and, man, you’d better, because the first and last quarters of Ultra Violet are nothing but fighting punctuated by one bad line after another."

two opinions from http://www.moviesbythor.com

seriously folks, if you liked this movie, i mean, thats cool. I got to watch it for free and i felt it wasn't worth my time

THIS MOVIE WAS, WITHOUT A DOUBT, THE WORST MOVIE I HAVE EVER SEEN

DO NOT GO SEE IT IN THE THEATRE, IM WARNING YOU NOW

the fight scenes are ridiculously fake...I know that all fight scenes in movies are "fake" but when you have one woman with a sword fighting 10+ men wielding guns at a time, you would think that the men would stand back and shoot from a distance instead of running towards to girl before deciding to attack.

the lines in the movie are incredibly cliche

the plot itself is even hard to understand/pick out, it took me a while to even understand what and why she was doing what she was doing

PLEASE DO NOT GO SEE THIS MOVIE, IT WILL ONLY COAX HOLLYWOOD INTO THINKING THAT IT WAS A SUCCESS AND THAT THEY SHOULD MAKE A SEQUEL

you can thank me later
