what exactly happens in these things? 1/26/2006 6:01:43 PM |

sorry to all the exercise-friendly people... we've already recruited enough of those.
as far as what happens in focus groups--it's really just to see what consumers think about different topics (usually just 10-12 people sitting around a table with one person leading the discussion and asking questions).
it's really easy... you'll just be asked your opinions. and there's free food! so all the non-exercisers should sign up to do it. 1/26/2006 11:21:33 PM |

i must admit that i do walk a ton(over 10 miles a week)
sometimes i walk to school which takes about 40 minutes(i walk faster than anyone i know)
i also smoke cigarettes, i think i've built my lungs to tolerate them now, they dont affect my breathing habits
anyways like i said just shoot me a pm 1/27/2006 2:25:51 PM |

I too walk a lot (rather quickly) too and from campus, and between classes. I don't excercise regularly though, I think the last time I was at the gym was when I was taking one of my required PE classes a few years ago. Does the walking count as excercise? If not then I'll do the focus group. 1/27/2006 2:43:53 PM |

sorry for the confusion... we definitely think walking is a great form of exercise, but we're not counting it as "working out" for this particular group. maybe this will help... we're interested in 2 groups:
1. exercisers--people who go to the gym, lift weights, etc. for more than 3 hours a week 2. "non-exercisers"--people who don't go to the gym or work out more than 1 hour a week. walking to class, up & down stairs, and all that great stuff isn't being counted as working out because you're going to have to do it to get to class whether you want to or not. if we counted it, hardly any college kids would fit in this category.
if you fit in the "non-exerciser" group and want to help, let me know!! we still need lots more people! 1/31/2006 5:32:33 PM |

My TA for ZO 160 said that too, and he told us the story about how he was told in a really important business meeting just what he was saying to the people! I thought it was hilarious!
But, I'm interested!2/1/2006 1:14:24 AM |
