Got DVD's you've either burned or just don't watch anymore? Make me an offer, and if its something I want and don't already have, I'll probably buy it. NO BURNED DVD's PLEASE. MUST have original case and insert, and the dvd cant be all scratched up.
-Post or PM me with a list of what you've got. 1/26/2006 3:16:52 PM |

i still dont understand why people buy dvds. except classics. youre only gonna watch it once, ok maybe twice. why not just get netflix or blockbuster.com? one of the many things that is beyond me. 1/27/2006 1:12:40 AM |

You've got it wrong.....a true movie buff, or movie hobbyist does not only watch them once or twice....you also get it for reasons beyond just the frequency of times you watch the movie. I like to be able to watch a movie as soon as a scene from it randomly gets stuck in my head one day, and with a dvd collection, I can do that--with blockbuster, i either have to drive up, pay $5-7, then drive back a day or two later, or wait for it to come in the mail from netflix.
Also, for those with high-end visual/audio set ups, the substantial investment in that technology justifies the buying of dvd's to enjoy, and vice versa. With a collection to match the system, you are able to enjoy the director's true vision of the movie, with stunning imagery, and heart-pounding sound---something you cant get watching it on your 13" RCA (Not that there's anything wrong with having a small tv).
Its simply my hobby, and if you dont enjoy movies enough, then there really is no sense in buying them in large numbers. 1/27/2006 7:53:37 AM |

Now who's got movies to sell (Note that on tww you pay maybe what it costs to rent it, not near retail price, so essentially you're paying the rental fee in order to own it forever) 1/27/2006 7:54:43 AM |

^^^i understand but 99% of the time they are just sitting there collecting dust and you wont think about them again after 1 or 2 watches. for 1799 a month blockbuster.com you get to keep 3 out at a time and you get 2 free rentels for the store each month. or less for 1 or 2 out at a time. its virtually like having every dvd ever made at your disposal. you send one in and in 2 days you get the next one on your list. if you must see something now you can just use your coupon. or you could buy 1 dvd each month for the same price.
^^but look how easy it is for you to get whatever dvd you want off tww...

I see your point, but its like any other collecter's hobby--coins, stamps, toys, etc....a coin collector may never ever look at those coins but once or twice, and a toy collector may hang the priceless toy in its box on his wall, and never play with them, but what they don't do with their collection isn't the point of having them....its things like the drive for a complete collection, or a collection that makes people stop and comment on how large and awesome it is that is the driving force (in addition to whatever drives you to want the item in the first place). Therein lies the reason why I posted that I don't want burned dvd's...any old person can be lame (smart in some peoples opinions) and use netflix to burn dvd's and create a huge collection, or just rent 3 at a time, but that's not what floats my boat.
With dvd's, you dont have to pay the same price everytime...as with me, I make little distinction between 4 used dvd's i pick up from a yard sale that are in good condition, and a brand new one that i drive out to best buy to pick up. So I see paying $2-5 for a used copy as a significant advantage over paying the same fee to rent and return. 1/28/2006 4:54:36 PM |
