mine keeps fucking up. like whenever i turn my computer off... when i turn it back on, after about 5 minutes the computer auto-reboots... but after that its fine until next time its had a chance to cool down

at least i think its the video card. i just got MONOPOLY3 and it keeps locking up when the dog tries to move spaces.

anyways, wanna be sure its the vidcard. and what would you recommend i get for a new/used one? i dont play a lot of graphic intensive stuff, but i figure i might as well get with the times.

I have now an "NVidiia GeForce2 MX/MX400" -- i think its 32mb

Get the most you can afford. Just make sure it's an nVidia.

Get a geforce 6800, they're around 230, 240 if you can find a good dealer on the net. Sick cards, too.

i dont feel like i need to spend 250 bucks on a video card when i dont really play games that much... hell im only running a duron 1300. id rather get a cheap card and buy a new motherboard/proc.

i guess i should say im looking for decent, reliable, and < $100

I highly doubt it's the video card for Monopoly 3 (unless that is one sick game ) I have a GeForce2MX 420 and I play HL2 and CS:Source all the time (of course it's more processor dependant, but still...)

Try updating the drivers. Or maybe there is a downloadable patch for Monopoly 3 . Besides, depends on the AGP compatibility (2X,4X, or 8X) of the motherboard. If you're computer is 2-3 years old it'll kinda pointless to upgrade to a "modern" graphics card (compatibility issues)

this one would be good and under 100 for you. massive boost in performance, and fully dx9 compatable.

These ones iare a little over your price range, but would perform better:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ProductList.asp?Submit=ENE&N=2010380048+4017+70002353+70002452+70002440&Subcategory=48&description=&srchInDesc=&minPrice=75&maxPrice=110&ATTR1=2010380048+4017&ATTR2=&ATTR3=2010380048+70002353&ATTR4=&ATTR5=2010380048+70002452&ATTR6=&ATTR7=&ATTR8=&ATTR9=&ATTR10=2010380048+70002440&ATTR11=&ATTR12=&ATTR13=&ATTR14=&ATTR15=&ATTR16=&ATTR17=&ATTR18=

Some of those are refurbished, check the warranties. The two non-refurbished ones seem to have some cooling issues, so make sure your case has good airflow.

You might want to check your power supply too. I had a Radeon 9550 (cheap $100 card but it gets the job done; HL2, Guild Wars, etc.) that kept screwing up until I bought a new 500 W power supply.
