my review thus far (gamestop uses an x/5 rating system)

Gameplay: 5/5

The newest addition to the Madden series, first-person mode, is a touch above ESPN's adaptation. The QB vision has improved also; on Madden '06, it was hard to tell if a QB had an awareness of 45 or of 75 and it never really got big enough to see more than one receiver until you got into the 90s. Now it's a little more forgiving. The biggest problem is that Madden still must not want you to return punts; your return blockers will still stand with their backs turned, while the punt team's gunners drill your punt returner immediately. Fair catch or go for the block. This minor setback notwithstanding, gameplay has gotten much better.

Soundtrack: 3/5

It's a lot more based on emo rock-type of stuff, and it isn't 50-50 like it was last year (infact, every song alternated between rap and rock, which is not the case here). I wish they'd just put in the old tunes from ESPN Primetime, but since the show is cancelled for now I guess I understand. Music is tolerable but takes a bit of time to get used to. I personally think that the soundtrack peaked in 2004.

Graphics: 4/5

The game can have both the best and the worst of graphics at times. The game menu is easy to navigate, the help screen is a bit easier to read, and actual gameplay is generally more fluid. The graphics can only improve but so much, and they did. Some players still look nothing like their actual selves (not even close), and what is up with giving that "close crop" haircut to so many black guys? It looks more like a style you'd see an old brass band than on, say, Corey Webster.

(ahh i forgot to get the rest before hitting submit )
