I'm the second owner so the history of this car is known. 117,000 miles (75% highway), '97, good condition. 5-speed manual, 2.8L VR6 (172 hp?), leather, really nice mp3/cd player, pretty good system (stock but premium sound). Cruise-control doesn't work, and the ABS light is on (though brakes are new), minor blemishes on the exterior and one small rip in the leather on the driver side.Really good handling and it's very quick. you probably didn't have this problem, but the VR6 is a bitch to fix if something such as the check engine light came on. the thing is, i see these all the time with that light on. since when have you had it? with that mileage on a VR6 and with ABS light and cruise not working, you can't expect anything close to KBB value. I just sold a 2001 passat for much less than KBB. $2800 is actually very good on this car.

$2800 is crap for this car, the ABS light and cruise control are a byproduct of german cars with hit or miss electrical systems.

im willing to bet the abs light is either the abs rings or the sensor.. a not uncommon problem for vws of this vintage

I've had the car since May, 2003. Like I said, I'm the second owner and the car is in very good condition and drives excellently. I also failed to mention the tires only have about 2500 miles on them.
