we still have time to break into a midseason slump.

But if we wait too long it'll be an end-of-season slump.

I think we're benefiting immensely from a down year in the ACC.

This year's team would be .500 at best versus last year's conference.

How so?

We owned GT last year with a team that wasn't as good. That leaves UNC, WFU, and Duke, which is at most five losses.

People like Fuel never give Herb any credit. Come on now. We are in 2nd in what is still prolly the 2nd or 3rd best conference this year.

^^^thats bad logic

Last year's GT team would probably beat us this year because they were so athletic. We've shown over the last few games that we cannot defend an athletic team, especially when we've got our whities on the court.

^dude, we're not that good. I wish we were, but we're not a top-15 team until we fix our defensive problems.

If college basketball is so down this year, then how are we not a top 15 team?

And this year's team is the same as last year's team minus Hodge. So we basically switched Bennerman with Hodge and Simmons with Collins. Not a bad trade off to me. How would last year's Tech team beat our team this year that is wayyyyyy better?

I said the ACC is down this year, not all of college BBall.

Transitive properties don't work in sports. They would be a matchup nightmare for this team. And as I'm trying to say, we aren't wayyyyyy better than last year. We might not be better at all.

I'll admit that the ACC is down this year, and we would probably be worse in last years conference, but there's no way we would be as bad as we were.

Also, I think college basketball as a whole is down a little. You look at the top 15 teams and tell me that we cant beat any of them on a given night...you cant do it. The gap between the tops and bottoms of leagues around the country is a lot smaller this year.

Thats not saying we're better than the top 10 teams, but we're definately better than a few teams ranked ahead of us, and anyone can beat anyone this year.

Nobody is invincible, everyone needs to stop talking about which conferences are better than other conferences. Its clear that the Big East is damn good this year, but you cant judge the whole season on two games played last week (seton hall/georgetown).

you know, I also thought we would get our asses smashed by GT the last 2 years, and we didnt. We beat them twice when they went to the Championship game. We beat them twice last year when they were supposed to be a hell of a lot better than they were...returning almost everyone from the year before.

This NC State team is a lot better than anyone thought it could be, and I think a lot of that has to do with J-Ho being gone. I mean he was great and all, but instead of staring at him and picking our noses, we're actually playing ball.

Ohh ok. We aren't better than last year's team that went 21-14 and 7-9 in the conference. The same team that lost at home to FSU and UVA. I guess this year's team at 16-4 and 5-2 isn't any good just because the conference is down.

We lost at home to Seton Hall. We have plenty of chances to lose to some more unranked teams at home.

Last year's team made it to the sweet 16, and beat a #2 seed in the Tourney. I like how you overlook those little details.

Ok, for fucks sakes, stop saying the reason we are better is because Hodge is gone. I really can't think of a more ridiculous statement. It's just like if someone were to say the Laker's would be better without Kobe being there and taking so many shots. Yes, Hodge threw up a lot of shots, but who else on last years team would you want taking those shots? The single, number one reason this team is better than last years team is because we have a healthy Tony Bethel. Bottom line. We actually have one person on our team that knows how to dribble. Simmon's evolving into a dominant inside presence helps to, but if you look around college bball, there is absolutely nothing more important than having a good point guard capable of taking the ball up the floor. Bethel is the key to this team, and especially when he is shooting well, we are pretty damn tough to beat. Saying we are better because one of the best players in this school's history is gone is the absolute dumbest and most untrue thing you can say.

Who said anything about losing him making us better? He was THE REASON we beat UConn.

^^We haven't even played in the tournament this year so why don't you give us a chance? We usually play well in the ACC and NCAA tourney under Herb, so what's wrong with a better regular season to get a better seed?

^you're retarded

Read what I said after that

Hodge was great, but this year other people are forced to step up, and the other team doesnt know who its gonna be, which gives us a little bit of an advantage.

I'm basically saying that we relied too heavily on him. Thats not something you can do in this offense. Period. If you dont agree with that, then you are stupid.

You're still saying our team is better off without Hodge. I don't care what you say after that, that alone is a ridiculous statement and makes anything else you say meaningless. I mean shit, I guess Duke will be better without J.J. Redick, since now we won't know if it's going to be Paulus or Melchioni taking the shots

^^^Its also ridiculous to extrapolate hodge's situation on this team to JJ on Duke's team. Hodge didnt drop 30 a night, and he went in slumps where he couldnt hit the ocean with his shot if he was standing in it. Our offense also wasnt built to go to hodge like Dukes is for JJ, or the Lakers is for Kobe.

You cant understand basketball, and at the same time not admit that we're probably better off without Hodge this year. Every fucking expert in america looks at our success and at least considers the fact that we relied on Julius too much.

So shut the fuck up about it...I'm right, you're wrong, quit being a bitch.

^I had already typed too much...and learn how to spell "ridiculous"

^^I'm pretty sure more people would call you out for being a faggoty tool than me for using J-Ho as shorthand for Julius Hodge on a message board. Its not like I refer to him as that in normal conversation

If you dont have anything better to do than call me out for that, then go kill yourself. I only made the spelling comment since you wanted to be so nitpicky with me dumbshit.

bottom line is our defense HAS been shitty the last three games... FOR a top 15 team, but hey, if thats how we play, thats how we play, it just doesnt look like a top 15 defense right now

- we wont have to play ranked teams in the tournament.
- it's ok to skate by on shitty defense. Since this has started, we have lost 50% of our games due to shitty defense, 1 to an unranked opponent at home, and it took two overtimes to take care of a perennial acc bottom feeder that scored on us at will.

But a win loss is a win!

btw we were under 500 in the acc last year so youre saying this team is better, correct?
