it's nowhere near one of the best standup performances ever (like most of the stuff people are listing here), but Jim Gaffigan's - Beyond the Pale on Comedy Central the other night killed

You just listed Chris Rock's absolute worst comedy act ever.

I mean, I never heard his act when he was like fifteen or something, but that was better than Never Scared.

Bill Hicks didn't have the delivery of a Kinison or a Leary. It's one of the reason's he's considered a genius but not really well known. However, he singlehandly ushered in the "Bitter Asshole" era into comedy not seen since Lenny Bruce. The amazing thing to watch is how much
George Carlin's act changed after Hicks came along... talk about stepping your game up.

Hicks is more of a social commentator, to me, than a comedian. Plus, I didn't agree with half the stuff he said. But he was a genius, regardless.

my favorite comedians ive seen live:
dave chappelle
mitch hedberg
jerry seinfeld (although spending $70 sucks)
jerry farber

favorites i havent seen:
demetri martin
jim gaffigan (his first comedy central special was funnier than beyond the pale)

and theres a bunch of no-name seasoned comedians ive seen live that kill who will never be famous but be infinitely funnier than dane cook.

people ive seen live:

mitch hedberg (twice)
stephen lynch
larry the cable guy
dave attel

dave attel was a lot funnier than insomniac showed
stephen lynch had half the people rolling, half the people going "ooooooo did he just say that??"
larry the cable guy, woulda been funnier if i hadnt ever heard him before
and mitch was classic each time

arog20012001:

if youre wanting to buy chappelle's stand-up dvds i know best buy has killin' them softly for $10 and you can find the other one "for what its worth" online for $10. if you pay more than that for either one you are paying more than you have to.
