Yeah...I'm really susceptible to meds that make people drowsy and I've also found that Claratin is really good for not putting me to sleep. 1/31/2006 9:53:01 AM |

Singulair is the best I have found, but it is perscription only, and a lot of insurance companies will only cover it if you have asthma or breathing trouble, since that is what it was first made for. 1/31/2006 12:03:09 PM |

Allegra works great for me and its now in generic form (only $10 for 30 day supply with my insurance copay)!
Plus, the first year you take it and you smoke up or drink when it starts to kick in...it gives u a nice cross buzz. 1/31/2006 11:45:02 PM |

Claritin isn't supposed to make most people drowsy, but when I took it in high school it made me tired all day long. 2/1/2006 3:56:12 AM |

I would suggest Claritin-D 12 hour
the 24 hour kind seemed to actually keep me awake for longer than I needed to be
also I have a prescription for Zyrtec, which I also think works pretty well
finally Flonase, stuff you can squirt up your nose, works exceptionally well
I just always forget to use it, even though I'm supposed to 2/1/2006 5:28:26 AM |

after you take zyrtec for like 3 days, the sleepiness factor goes away
also I was prescribed 2 a day, but I only take one
or only took one, since I'm out 2/1/2006 7:15:22 PM |

Loratidine works for 24 hours and is non-drowsy. If you want fast acting there is nothing available that won't make you feel out of it. I've tried EVERYTHING! 2/1/2006 7:33:48 PM |

Claritin has always worked for me.
I used to have horrible allergies, and had shots for 7 years... either the shots worked, or I "grew" out of my allergies - but when I'm around fluffy bunnies and cats (snd dust and mold...) and such I still need meds - I take Claritin and i'm fine, it's never made me drowsy. 2/1/2006 10:42:57 PM |

I'm super sensitive to allergy medicines, so even Claritin made me sleepy. I can take half a Benadryl and be out for 12 hours...no kidding. I always take Alavert when my allergies act up. It lasts for 24 hours and never makes me sleepy. 2/2/2006 1:06:33 PM |
