go about testing to find out if a male if sterile? A regular doctor? A girl from work said a urologist but I'm wondering if a regular doctor or the VA hospital could test for it. What does it involve?

im sticking by taste test, but i had to chime in on urologist... UROLIGISTS DEAL WITH URINE AND THE URINARY TRACT. TESTICLES HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH URINE. a reproductive specialist could tell.

other than that, your normal physician should be able to order a fertility test.

an average male releases 5 ml, and at that concentration, that's upto 100 million sperm.

are you telling me that's not enough to impregnate a woman? where does the 20 mil/ml cutoff come from? how much does an average male have?

i am just surprised that several million per ml wouldn't guarantee that at least a few sperm would make it to the egg.

AIDS is really fucking hard to get unless you are sharing needles.

Also, this sounds like a situation where one or both parties say they are sterile and wind up with a child and like 65 std's like this dumb bitch I went to high school with.

I know it it best to think about HIV as a disease that is easily transmittable, but the reality is that it's not. It's got about 1/20 transmission rate for unprotected anal for the receiver and 1/200 for the giver in vaginal. This is much lower than one would think. The rates for sharing needles is much higher this is why you see gay IV drug users as having the highest incidence rates.

^^^ & ^

That makes sense.
HOWEVER, 1/20 is not a good percentage. While I agree that getting AIDS via needles is more frequent, getting it through sex is likely...or at least way too likely for me to test.

My main point is that as long as you don't get loads dropped in your ass by IV drug users you are probably in good shape. However, there is a lot of bad shit aside from AIDS that would justify being safe--the other stuff just doesn't get as much press

I'm not worried about AIDS, I know I don't have it. The ex got it a few partners after me.

My current boyfriend had chemo and radiation for cancer and everyone keeps asking me if he's sterile. It'd be nice if he was, seeing as he has a phobia of babies.

sterility is not infertility.

just tell him to get a sperm count from a local sperm bank.

and this is a true statement. its especially hard for women to give it to men vaginally.
