Don't really care too much about the Medicaid, but cutting student aid sucks. It's punishing the smart poor kids while not having any negative effect on stupid rich kids (dare I say, reverse commensalism). Granted, it keeps the dumb poor kids out, but it still kind of sucks. Thoughts?

It's always a good thing when the federal government cuts any kind of social program funding. Less money for them, equates to less money the federal government can waste. It's a baby step back towards fiscal conservatism, but it is a start. GG, Republicans!!! 2/2/2006 2:00:20 AM |

^ Wow joe, are you so blinded by your irrational hatred that you sit there and take potshots at a religious philosophy that does the very work you're so pissed off is being cut off?
Oh but wait, since you lack the sophistication to understand the nuances of politics in the United States and instead rely upon black and white definitions of what "evil" is to toss out inflammatory knee-jerk insults to label an entire group of people as some sort of one dimensional shadow enemy so you can instill fear in your followers and create unnecessary tension with them to build political gains, I guess I shouldn't be suprised.
I would point out that most of the evangelicals you're so pissed off about aren't even Calvinists, but I guess in your simplified world view, since there happens to be a large faction of Christians who voted not with you but against you, that makes all Christians evil terrorists for which you must wage crusade against in the name of freedom and democracy. 2/2/2006 2:45:10 AM |

I am a Calvinist, and no Calvinist I've ever heard or read believes anything close to this.
And it was an extremely random jab at that.....they probably make up less than 3-5% of evangelicals, yet somehow they're the ones bringing about this policy you hate.
And what's funny is I agree wholeheartedly with your first sentence.2/2/2006 4:29:22 AM |

Could be directed at most of the voting public. All blocs.
Just happened upon this gem from Bush's remarks at the '04 National Convention.

Considering I payed for 2 years of out of state tuition and living expenses (rent/food et al) with private loans without need for a co-signer I'd say it's not too hard to finance your education without rich parents. And if you're smart, it should be even easier.2/2/2006 11:51:36 PM |

It's usually a good idea to have at least some vague clue of what you're talking about before bitching?

Economics dictates that the smart people of the world will still flock to our shores. So, no matter how bad our education system is compared to others we will stick kick their asses because we will have the smartest people "the World" has to offer working on the problem(s). 2/3/2006 12:31:55 PM |
