remember this? http://www.thewolfweb.com/message_topic.aspx?topic=360963

When the national association of evangelicals said they were going to make global warming a big part of their agenda in their health of the nation report (http://www.dirtygreek.org/outgoinglink.php?url=http://www.nae.net/images/civic_responsibility2.pdf)?

it would appear that the likes of James Dobson of Focus on the Family think that "Bible-believing evangelicals . . . disagree about the cause, severity and solutions to the global warming issue." Therefore, the National Association of Evangelicans will NOT be dealing with global warming. SURPRISE! (http://www.dirtygreek.org/outgoinglink.php?url=http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2006/02/01/AR2006020102132.html)

Quote :
"The letter's signers amounted to a Who's Who of politically powerful evangelicals, including Charles W. Colson, founder of Prison Fellowship Ministries; James C. Dobson, chairman of Focus on the Family; the Rev. D. James Kennedy of Coral Ridge Ministries; the Rev. Richard Land of the Southern Baptist Convention; Richard Roberts, president of Oral Roberts University; Donald E. Wildmon, chairman of the American Family Association; and the Rev. Louis P. Sheldon, chairman of the Traditional Values Coalition."

by the way, from the original thread on evangelicals and global warming

excoriator:
Quote :
"this is seriously old news.

evangelicals have been concerned about the environment for years now, although they also feel that abortion and gay suppression take precedence....

you're falling into the typical liberal elitist habit of stereotyping people who are different than you.

Quote :
"i.e. i don't wanna see you posting a thread in the future expressing shock - shock! that evangelicals hold humanitarian beliefs"

Quote :
"liberals and the mainstream media are consistently confounded when they realize that evangelicals actually have very complex and nuanced political beliefs - and are not actually simple sheep led blindly by rush and fallwell"

^^ I agree. More accurately, write down whatever you hear from scientists but run it by an engineer before you buy into it. If the engineer does not approve, shoot the scientist to stop him from spouting the nonsense and confusing the issue.

"Evangelicals Launch Fight Against Climate Change

POSTED: 4:44 pm EST February 8, 2006
UPDATED: 5:51 pm EST February 8, 2006

WASHINGTON -- In an effort to reduce global warming, 86 evangelical Christian leaders are calling for federal action to reduce carbon dioxide emissions.

Signers of the Evangelical Climate Initiative include the Rev. Rick Warren, Wheaton College President Duane Litfin, and leaders of World Vision and the Salvation Army.

All maintain that humans cause global warming and can help stop it, and that doing so is a way to care for God's creation and save the world's poor from an increase in natural disasters.

Other evangelical leaders refused to join the campaign, including Southern Baptist leader Richard Land, Focus on the Family's James Dobson, Prison Fellowship founder Charles Colson and the Rev. D. James Kennedy of Coral Ridge Ministries.

They've signed a separate letter that says Christians "disagree about the cause, severity and solutions to the global warming issue.""

James Dobson is an evangelical leader, but he's much more of a political leader than the classic evangelical.

his position isn't surprising and could easily be anticipated.

This is really sad. The Church is blatantly bending over for big business.

Newsflash church leaders, Christians disagree about most issues.

Not saying that everything he says is golden, but he's no dummy, either
