A-Rod!

I just talked to someone over at Doak and they said A-rod rolled up to throw out the first pitch today. That's pretty awesome! Just letting you peeps know

This Friday, February 3rd, NC State's Boys of Summer take to the field to open the 2006 season. The Pack entertains Delaware State at 3 PM in the first of a three-game homestand.

Just a quick question, where is the baseball field and is it free for students (just show your ID) or is there a ticketing process? Any other tips on experiencing an NCSU baseball game?

Doak is over near Sullivan, it's free for students (flash your ID).

Game's already started, but of course it will go on for awhile.

I doubt it'll be crowded today, just because it's Delaware State. This was the first place I saw the announcement that A-Rod would there--apparently it was a surprise to everyone (although they did say to get to the game early because there would be a "special pregame ceremony), so I don't know how many people are there.

Great day for baseball, though. Wish I was in Raleigh.

A-Rod was sitting about 5 seats over from us unfortunately I had to leave early for work. I hate the Yanks but he was wearing a State hat which was pretty sweet to see. I was glad to see for the most part everyone pretty much left him alone and let him watch the game with Ramon's parents. He is throwing out the first pitch tomorrow too I believe.

Huge turn out at the game today...

They announced they are going to start "Avent's Army" (Avent is the head coach), you sign up to join the club and are given a t-shirt, which in turn gets you drink and food specials at Sammy's before every home baseball game. I'm assuming this is an effort to get the students (and other fans) drunk and yelling like hell at the other team. He has also previously mentioned giving out bios (I'd assume much like cheer sheets) on all the opposing players.

Sign me up.

My respect for A-Rod probably just doubled due to that pic. The fact that he came here to do that and did in a State jersey improves my opinion of him greatly. I still hate the Yankees though - that will never change

yeah that pic of him in a State jersey removes a lot of my hate for him. I still think he's a fag (who hits a first basemen trying to be safe?) but not quite so much now...

and yeah, where's the signup info for the Avent's Army?

This is almost as cool as that time Mike Vick showed up for a football game.

Too bad that wont be happening anymore, unless NCSU picks baby vick up.

"Rodriguez made a surprise appearance at the Doak to throw out the first pitch and spend the weekend with Wolfpack second baseman Ramon Corona and family, his across-the-street neighbors. Rodriguez will be back at the Doak for Saturday's game, which will be at 2 p.m. Corona responded to Rodriguez's presence with three hits and three RBIs, but the entire Wolfpack lineup came to hit, bashing out 16 hits, including seven for extra bases."

How does Vick's appearance even compare? He came out to support his brother and wasn't that much of a surprise, nor do I recall his participation in any on field ceremonies.

wow i'm gonna have to get to the game tomorrow to see him. i'm a huge Yankees fan. been that way for a long time. please don't hate me.

yeah i know someone is going to point to the picture of me in a Braves hat. well here's my breakdown.

AL-Yanks
NL-Braves

i like the Yanks more though. those two are the only teams i follow. i hate the mets and the red sox. i don't like the cubs and houston either.
