Yesterday I downloaded Symantec from WCU's website and suddenly this coloumn (sp) appeared in the left portion of my screen. It's white and has "Folder Tasks, Other Places, and Details listed as options. But I can't right'click the fucker away... I'll send screenshots if that will help.

you'd think it be from symantec then. best just go into it and check the options/preferences, i'm sure a bit of detective work could find it.

yeah, turning off active desktop should make it go away too, but if you want active desktop then use that program linked above

I can't find active desktop anywhere on my com, I "searched" for it. I tried to download that file but it fumbles in every way. Advice plz?

You mean fumble this? All you have to do is extract it and run. Then restart your comp.
