I'm not saying he wasn't a great coach, but the man had so many teams that were loaded with talent yet only won 2 championships in 36 years of coaching the Tar Heels. Coach K won 3 in his first 21 seasons as coach of the Blue Devils, and you know he's going to win at least one more.

Do you think he should be honored this way or not? If so should it happen maybe when he's at least 15-20 years removed from coaching at UNC?

i am one of the few on here that respect dean as a coach, but if he gets it, then who's to say we couldnt have a Coach K hustle and blow award, or even the Bob Knight sportsmanship award? c'mon people, get with the program

Saw someones argument on inside as Dean has most ncaa wins. Not for long, he will be caught next year most likely. Also, Dean wasn't well liked by anyone but the carolina fags, ooops i mean fans.

The only reason Smith should deserve the award is because of the NBA players and coaches (college and pros) he's produced. I definitely think that award should be named after Wooden if anyone should be considered.
