Gifts are one thing - a "promise ring" is another. It's like an engagement ring - a "gift given in contemplation of" a certain event (like the fulfillment of a promise), is to be returned if for whatever reason that event does not take place. I think legally, he owns the promse ring. Sell it and you could be liable for conversion (theft). 2/6/2006 4:24:55 PM |
nicki14j New Recruit 8 Posts user info edit post |
actually he doesn't own shit... both were gifts... please only reply if you are interested in the ring or necklace.. if you're not i suggest you get a life and find other things to do than make dumbass comments! 2/6/2006 4:30:19 PM |

I'm telling you what the law says - if it was just a "gift" then it is not properly called a promise ring. If it is a "promise ring" then it is likely a gift given in contemplation of the fulfillment of a promise - that's why it's called a promise ring. If the promise has not been fulfilled, then the gift is vacated and the item must be returned. You do realize that by putting this online you are making a record in writing which can be used in court, do you not? 2/6/2006 6:29:55 PM |
