Ok so there's the screenshot that I know would be the first question.

Here's the problem, laptop has developed a problem wherein any time I try to open a file using explorer, it almost never works. Everything freezes, the file system freezes, all programs freeze until I use Taskmanager to end the program. This includes trying to open any files through a folder, opening a file through a program if the program has dialog box which uses explorer (i.e. Word, Outlook, or other Office Programs). I send a lot of e-mails with file attachments and have not been able to send any in a few days. Tech Support says my warranty is out and they don't give a rip. I can not do unless the file is saved on the desktop (how I got the screenshot). I would love if someone could help me figure out how to fix this problem.

if you live on campus, call 515-HELP. Tell them you think you have a virus.

Or... boot into safemode (hit f8 on startup until a bootmenu appears) and run spybot seach and destroy, lavasoft's adaware, microsoft's anti-spyware program as well as whatever antivirus software you use. you might also want to manually download the latest definitions, if your antivirus software has been failing to update.

If you can't do all that, or if it just doesn't work, try getting resnet to help. In the end though, if it's a bad virus or not a virus at all (and something like corrupted system files and screwie installs) then you will just have to reformat and reinstall windows.

whoa. 50 processes. I normally have about 25 max. Run adaware or a similar program to delete spyware and search under add/remove programs for anything that looks odd. You can also go to Run and open msconfig and uncheck the processes you don't want running at startup. Other than that I'd say your computer has a lot of shit on it that shouldn't be.

If you by a New HP Dell or any of the sort that shit is common from what I have seen.

Friend bought a new laptop from BestBuy this year an when she brought it over that was the first thing I checked out. Cut half of that shit off.

If it were me I would just format.

Back your shit up and start clean.

I just like a clean closet.
