which antivirus software do you guys like better? Ease of use, protection and updates etc..

i have avg on my desktop and symantec on my laptop. avg seems to update a bit more than symantec does. like with avg it updates every day almost and symantec is every 2-3 days. but still comprehensive updating. symantec has more background crap running than avg does..granted u can close some of those processes but not enough to match avg's. as far as protection, never had a problem with either of them. both do the job.

^agreed, i've used both, and both were unabtrusive and got the job done, recently switched to avast!, it's pretty slick too..

how come AVG pro makes you pay yearly for virus def. updates but avg Free doesn't?

I agree with this. Symantec works fine and I've never had a problem. It blocked that .wmf script while I was porno browsing today. Great stuff.

One reason you pay for AVG Pro is the support. You don't get any support with the free version.
