My wife has a 99 cavalier. What is the factory service recommendation for the automatic transmission? It's got about 86,000 miles on it and I'm thinking it's long overdue for a fluid and filter change. 2/7/2006 11:29:12 PM |

30k for fluid on all autos. can't hurt to just do it. I would change the filter at 60k with a fluid flush.
in your case, do them both now.

I agree with both of the above. 30k on the fluid.
The sad thing is, GM doesn't recommend service before 100k, I believe. Could be one reason so many of their trannies shit the bed.
On another note, still got that 240? It turns out that I probably need it. 2/8/2006 12:03:16 AM |

^^that's because it's such a goddamn pain in the ass, and I don't make any money doing it.
Hold on...maybe that's why I don't do ANYTHING to my cars.
However, the Dodge got the oil changed and the tranny fluid changed...and I added a drain plug to the pan. So this past Sunday was rather productive. 2/8/2006 11:05:15 PM |

yeah my dodge about due for a tranny fluid flush. i think im gonna go with the flush instead of drain and fill, although the mashine we got almost always makes a fuckin mess 2/8/2006 11:19:23 PM |
